Trove of the Old Ones is the first really powerful ability which they showed. And by powerful I mean that you want to use it every game at every possibility. Unfortunately, the most powerful abilities are blunt and this one is no exception. Take 3 bastiladons and even without additional CP you'll get every one of them shoot twice in the second shooting phase. And imagine getting a double turn after that on top of additional CP...
It's great, but remember we're probably losing the reroll wounds that comes in thunderquake. In light of that, the overall output of your bastis will probably be pretty similar as it was in thunderquake
Maybe I missed it but how do we know the thunderquake host got the ax? it’s so interesting to see the responses from here and reddit. Redditors seem to be hyped and feel a lot of our stuff is good where as every time I read a post here it sounds like we are getting massive downgrades to everything.
I think Redditors seem awesome dinos and get excited. Here we have people who have been playing the Dinos and know they are underwhelming, so are examining the actual changes and evaluating their worth on the table.
Still optimistic. If I get more Stegs, I'll give this list a run. Maybe trade out one of the bow Stegs for another Bastilidon, or an Engine.
Reroll wounds has been stripped out of pretty much everything. It's just not a very common buff, and since they've been moving a lot of our battalion buffs to command abilities/etc it makes sense to assume our battalions are probably going to be pretty drastically different.
there is a guy posting on face book saying his friend is a youtube reviewier and told him skinks lost wary fighter. per him: Saurus 1 wound guard 2 wounds but nerfed in other areas skinks no wary fighter reporting overall nerfs, but the discussion seems to imply not nerfs just a drastic change in playstyle. im thinking the YT review guy doesn't like the coalesced lol
But we still can have a source of rerolling to wound. We'll know for sure just the day after tomorrow.
imho the stegadon list looks cool. Though it's peculiar they didn't mention anything about how to capture objectives with them. It seems silly to make a list like this, with a subfaction specifically designed around it. And then not have it be capable in like 90% of the various battleplans cuz you only have 8 bodies total and can't hold a single objective unless you wipe out the opponent. I mean, meme lists are fun and all, but making an entire subfaction just for a memelist seems excessive.
I dunno, removing Wary Fighter seems like a nerf to me. It also removed the Skinks ability to be useful beyond bullet catching.
Wary Fighter and LoSaT were to two rules that finally convinced me Seraphon were tournament viable. It was a big part of why I finally let myself give into buying a bunch of dinos and lizards.
My saurus are looking like theyll have to make due without the 3 strongest things: those two and summoning. Theyll need massive, massive buffs to make up for that.
Pretty sure that was part of old world fluff. The Slann engineered the lizardmen to defend the ancient structures of the old ones that kept the ley networks active and the polar portals stable.
True, no summoning, no Wary Fighter, and no LoSaT. Not sure how often I will play coalesced. It just won't feel like Seraphon to me. I am sure they will grow on me eventually though. I really like the sculpts for Saurus Guard.
If this is true (i am highly suspicious), skinks drop down to being the worst unit on the roster i would'nt even field em for 50 points assuming the rest of the statline stays the same. Saurus will still be mopping the floor and guards will be barely playable. In this case they must be pushing the stegadon battleline hard by making every other battleline choice unplayable garbage. The +2 wounds on thunder lizard monsters is pretty nice but i fear that means the bastiladon will remain at 8 wounds and steg at 10... It can also buff carnos wounds.
