I would say it is the opposite. The Skill Ceiling was massive. It is how the army was able to take wins off the top meta list for 3 years while being one of the worst books. Everything has been pushed together a lot more. Which is how a book should be written. You don't want only tournament lvl play to have a shot at winning games.
I hope we have other ways to get summoning points as the d3 from slann or starseer as general, d3 from one or more astrolith bearers and d3 per first spell nor used on slann or oracle doesn't seem like much with the new point table
I am a bit sad about the changes. I very much expected them though. I had a great year and half playing crazy table control list. I know it won't be the same lvl of control available, but it looks like we can fight now. And honestly, if we didn't lose some of our control and summoning I don't know how we would lose with the changes I have been seeing. The loss of our uniqueness is sad, but change was needed.
**Insert comment making sweeping judgement about the entire book when we dont have all the rules*** Everyone stay strong, wait for full spoilers
Yeah, the summoning is dead I think. I mean, in a form that it was. Now it's in line with other faction's summoning
Well, except for Slannesh. I do wish Starborn has buffs to summoning. Like maybe d6 per or perhaps we can give up more spells?
I'd pay good money right now to see Ripper, Salamander, Chameleon skink and Carnosaur scrolls.... Lord give me strength.
Really hoping Rippers, Terradons, and Chameleon Skinks are the must have units of the book. They are my favorites.
the page with the summoning rules is only for starborn so as long as they don't print it even worse again for the coalescent only starborn have summoning
So, Bastiladon with LazOr... Neither Thunderquake nor Astrolith can buff it anymore, so even at full health it's: 9 attacks 4.5 hits 3 wounds 3 damage against 4+ save (1.5 unsaved wounds x 2 damage) Erm. Ok. So that's what you get when you invest a CP into "Trove of the Old Ones" to have it shoot again. I mean you don't have to pay the points for Astrolith + Thunderquake, but somehow I have the feeling I want more damage out of a 220 points investment, however durable it may be.
In an example where we have our slann as general a Astrolith bearer on the board and an additional oracle which would be 660 points in itself we can get 4 to 12 points per round if we sacrifice 1 spell on both the slann and the oracle. After lets say 3 rounds we have 12 to 36 points so in the worst case we can summon 20 skinks or 1 unit costing up to 10 points and in the best case we can summon an engine or a stegadon with chief and 10 skinks
this was the bastiladon without buffs with buffs and this is it now before it takes damage that is not better
There's a superbattalion that seemly gives 1d3 extra... not much I hope there´s at least a command trait for Slann that empowers summoning a little bit, the same way now there´s "Great rememberer" that doubles on the teleporting. That will give some variation to the playstyle.
I mean, I think Starborne is gonna be where it is at. Maybe I am wrong, but LoSaT is amazing. The Coalesced bonuses don't seem to out weigh them for me yet.
