Yep. I have a conspiracy theory brewing that i would like to share. So GW released the campaign supplement, Wrath of the Everchosen, and that contained quite a few "missing" rules for some of the chaos factions and the book is more or less mandatory if you wish to play StD or Nurgle maggotkin. So GW has been teasing for a while now that Gordrakk will launch an attack on one of the major cities in the mortal realms and open a portal to Azyr, following the same narrative lines as Wrath of the Everchosen where a seat of power within one of the grand alliances gets assaulted by an overwhelming force and the entire grand alliance has to fight that threat off. My guess is that such a campaign supplement will arrive some time this year after the lumineth have been revealed, and it will contain the "missing" rules for some of the order armies such as the Seraphon, so they basically force people into buying a second book.

So Saurus Guards protecting Kroxigors protecting Razordon? Sounds awesome to me! You get the big prize!

Looking around, a Treelord Ancient will be great fun. Pop up a Sylvaneth Wyldewood near a unit, use the Realmshaper ability on it to hurt that unit, then cast the Treelord's spell to do D3 to every unit near it.

And he's not that bad as a beatstick when it comes down to it.

Hm, you don't have to take a subfaction or whatever the official designation is? You can just run with either the Coalesced or Starborn keyword, right?

You have to choose between those two to access the sub-sub factions. But I believe you can just be either Coalesced or Starborn for your whole army.

It should be called "Spanking of the Greenskins" if we are involved. We do Savage and bestial way better on premise.

So I'm pretty sure you get conjunction points for spells for "each" Slann or Oracle not just only the general.

Not sure if anyone spotted it

I still don't understand why the starseer can generate points if he's a general but he can't generate points by giving up a spell

filling out the hero slots with starseers for maximum summoning was too dangerous?

I do too, but I also hope I am wrong. It will set a dangerous predicament if GW doubles down on the fact you need multiple books to play a single AoS army the way it is meant to be played. Just look at 40k, to play as Chaos space marines you need 3 books (codex, vigilus ablaze, faith and fury) to even be considered competitive. Granted, in 40k it is more an issue of really bad rules that constantly gets updated and refined, but WotE was meant to be purchased alongside the new StD Battletome.

What about maic-heavy lists? I think about base of kroak, slann, astrolith, oracle/starseer, starpriest and priest. You want balewind and cogs too. This will be about a half of the list - the rest of points will go for screen and distractions. You want generally self-sustaining units for this tasks, like guard, bastiladons, etc. No room for other leaders, unfotrunatley. Dracothion Tail is the way to go because of superior board control and mobility. Cast Celestial Equilibrium with Slann and then vortex with Kroak and Cogs with star priest. Sage's Staff+Celestial Conduit+Celestial Equilibrium+Paragons of order= +4 for casting attempts. Enjoy Celestial Deliverence cast on 3+/4+/5+, comet's call on 3+ and explode on 6+. Stellar tempest on 4+. And you can throw useful spells from Realms too. And don't forget endless spells. MW output is insane.

I think, guard is good for this kind of list, since it can protect both slann and kroak.

@Lord Skal'terakk I think the +1 to hit from Skinks is too accessible and too useful to pass up on when Krox are hitting on 4+.

But throwing in 1-2 min-size tax units of Skinks probably wouldn't be a huge deal.

Either that or some other unit with the Skink keyword. A Starseer or Priest will trigger the Krox' ability, and so will Razordons, Stegadons, Bastiladons for example.

Command Traits and Artefacts only effect the Skink Chief, not the Stegadon, as per the warscroll.

The Engine of the Gods is different and can benefit from the Stegadons Helmet artefact.

I think the best way to run Kroxigors is going to be in a Thunderquake battalion, and that uses a lot of SKINK units. It shouldn't be a problem to keep them in range of a SKINK unit for +1 hit.

Thunder Lizard command trait explicitly mentions that the mount gets the extra attacks (the general themself does not).

I know the truth not theories and i warned you all weeks ago and noone did anything. Skaven have totally infiltrated GW and nerfed us to hell/broke starborne.

Teleportation, summoning and skink guerrilla tactics were the things that worked on the rodents and now we're sitting ducks, our scaly skins wont protect us from their bioweapons, its a trap, by making us feel physically strong they are increasing our hubris.

You all had a chance to act and you did nothing!
Now when u open ur battletome you will hear the laughter of the horned rat and the demise of competitive starborne lists.
    --------

P.S. I can totally see that new campaign book bringing new cities of sigmar with seraphon units and maybe DoK

Dunno, Star borne can do some pretty cool stuff and have a real good damage out put.

besides, now they have to deal with coalesced seraphon. Soon we’ll be pulling this off
