Totally destroyed it. Like, all the good ideas to make it semi-useful are now worthless. Why GW? WHY???
as a fellow stubborn ass I know better than to feed into someone that is interpreting something completely different from the rest of the recognized better and more experienced players. additionally I have no idea how you interpreted something that says "when you attack with this weapon don't use the normal attack sequence" to not be an attack when the first words are "when you attack" *shrug*
Sigh i think there is still debate over the basti. So if its at max wound bracket (1+ save) and a unit with rend hits it isnt a roll of 1 technically modifed? Because the rules state "and UNMODIFIED save roll of 1 always fails" And since the roll is being modified by rend wouldnt a roll of 1 succeed?
If you roll a nat 1, it's a fail. If you apply 10,000 rend to 1, but it still equals to one, it's teeeeeeeechnically unmodified
However which rule comes first. That Unmodified ones fail or the rule of rend. Since if GW didn't want 1's to succeed why didn't they write it that ones always fail.
order of operations you receive 5 successful wounds on a healthy basti you roll saves they are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 re-rolls now occur (if any) any 1's are removed, they are failures. now add any modifiers rend or + to saves (if any) to the DICE roll compare the dice roll to the characteristic. is it 1 or better? they are saves
The Rule of One is all encompassing. When you roll a die, you check the rule. Then you apply modifiers. This also works for rules that trigger on Unmodified rolls of 6.
Do you have a page number or something for where the ones are removed before rend? It seems very strange to me that GW would say "Unmodified rolls of 1 always fail" when they really mean 1's always fail.
page 7 of the core rules. Making attacks section number 3. last sentence : A save roll of 1 before modification always fails
Page 7 of the core rules, in the "Making an Attack" box. Refer to the text of the first step for attacking and the step for making a save. Clearly defines that 1s always fail and 6s always succeed on an attack before modifiers. The latter part states 1s always fail before modifiers on saves.
Ahhh ok. Lol I was using core rules in the app they are outdated. In the app core rules say "an Unmodified save roll of 1 fails, which implies that a modified save of 1 succeeds". However now the designers commentary is confusing me as they even say a modified roll of 1 succeeds.
What do you mean? The rules were provided were straight from the App in my case. Dear lord. That would mean the death of any monster meta or even hero hammer. It would just be hordes hordes hordes.
This is IMO one of the better ways of showcasing why the Bastiladon is immune to rend in the top bracket.
