Currently has 6? Seraphon players out of ~30, by far the highest representation. Mostly Dracothian's Tail, with 2 koatl's claw. Almost everyone is using kroak (shocker) and lots of salamanders ofc.

I think we may be entering a new world of seraphon popularity if this TTS trend carries through onto the tabletop.

    Aaron Wilson

It might just be we are strong, a new book and people want to try us out since we are still kinda an unknown.

5/6 lists have the "Kroak Core"
    Kroak
    Astrolith
    Skink starpriest
    Skink priest
    Bound geminids

Plenty of salamanders but they are not in every list. I see a lot of 10 skink units so I wonder if what missions they are using.

I wonder how the mirror match will go with the heavy magic fights. Every list has bound geminids but they are kinda a liability in the mirror match.

The specific battleplans haven't been released yet.

The mirror match will definitely be interesting. Gotta figure the lists with double slann will squeak ahead just off the extra dispells and +1 to dispell. But who knows. I could see the coalesced lists really doing work against the lists that rely on sallies for all their damage

Dracothion’s Tail with mass Salamanders kinda remind me of the meme about Tzeentch with mass Flamers. Everyone whined they could wipe half your army in a turn.

I wouldnt want to play the mirror tbh. I feel like alot of it would come down to RNG with casts/unbind. There is obviously room for tactical play with baiting and trading units, but imagine a turn or two where the opponent unbinds all your stuff and your casts fail. Rip.

Matthews list is such a “that guy”-list, but at the same time interesting. I guess the plan is to hang back with Kroak + Astrolith + screen of 5 Guards + screen of 10 Skinks and nuke away to force the enemy to come close. The moment there is an opening he teleports Kroak and calls down 5 Guards for protection at the new location + all the Sallies to wipe key components in the enemys army.

I believe he went 3-0 at the last TTS tournament this group ran with a similarish list, so it's definitely effective.

I mean, if it works /shrug. No hate on a guy testing out the best list he can think of in an environment conducive to it. I'm just kind of bummed the "best" seraphon lists seem to be shooting and magic... like they have always been.

Yeah, certainly. I dont mind people trying to squeeze out every bit advantage. Im hoping to see some of the games through The Honest Wargamer tomorrow, really curious how the DT lists are played out. I worry a bit it is gonna be cheesy, but hey.

It kinda sucks that Saurus doesnt seem as strong, but I guess it is what it is when they design a book without any real melee tools. There are a couple of Koatls Claw lists but they are largely Kroak based.

I'm actually super curious how coalesced Saurus spam would do against these Kroak/Salamander heavy Starborn lists. It'll be hard for salamanders to just chew through that many wounds when you're reducing damage by one.

At that point the DT player is basically relying on their MW spam. Fangs of Sotek lists obviously don't have that issue but it is a small, teeny, tiny chink in the armor of salamanders.

I am afraid, -1 damage won't matter that much here. Large saurus blocks can be decimated with stellar tempest. Mortal wounds from 6 to-hit will not be reduced. Finally, DT is able to strike where it is weakest. It has mobility advantage over coalesced and can strike where it is weakest, removing heroes, for example. I think, Knights have a little more chances to do anything, but still, we have great experience at how to deal with large melee armies. I don't think, that starborne will have any problems with coalesced mirror.

You'll have so much more board control, I think you'll be able to push back the drop. A lot will obviously come down to the "which kroak gets more of their spells off" battle, but /shrug.

    Results:

Aaron Wilson 2-1 (lost game 3 against chaos ascendant)
    Iuncta_Iuvant 2-1 (lost game 2 against Obaid's seraphon)
    JackQuig 3-0 (third place)
    Matthew Gouldesbrough 3-0 (first place)
Obaid Bin-Nasir 2-1 (minor loss in game 3 against warclans)
W4rmachine7 - looks like he dropped

Overall, the 5 seraphon armies combined for a record of 12-3, with one of those losses coming from another seraphon player and another being a draw/loss on KP.

It definitely looks like Seraphon will be able to compete to win tournaments. And even with different builds and subfactions.

The 1st place list seem like the unsurprinsing Salamander-deepstrike-spam-with-Kroak list. I bet both of those are going to see points increase, maybe as son as in GHB 2020. It was pretty obvious from day 1 that those two warscrolls where way ahead any other. I wound't personally play a list like that, specially beacuse I will never buy more than the 3 Salamander packs that I already have, but I could try a similar Dracothion's Tail list with some Razordons instead of that many Salamanders, and more Skinks, just to see how it works to deploy on command many packs spread around the board.

But is quite nice to see that 3rd place (also 3-0) was a Koatl's Claw double Carnosaur (No-Kroak) Firelance list, with many bound endless spells. At least it shows that there are different viable builds. I could try that very same list myself, no doubt.

Maybe, our monsters are not that bad after all? At least we managed to go 3-0 with them. But, I suppose, the spells did heavy lifting.

Hey, I'm the guy with the 3-0 saurus list. It was all saurus and carnosaurs that won me the games to be honest. The spells did very little. Without the pluses to cast (only +1 on the slann) they're far too too unreliable. The carnosaur and knights got in combat turn 1 or 2 and just fully buffed wrecked house.
No rend on most attacks hurt the knights against petrifex but killed his heroes and the managed to chew though the rest. Motrek were too slow to do anything.

its a cool list, i really like the carnosaurs and firelance, i use them in my coalesced lists.
I did wonder why you brought so many endless spells. did you do it just to cover certain weaknesses? purple sun for hordes and swords for chaos. seems like a lot of points tied up in it. congrats on the games

They were mainly to block areas and such. Purple sun/geminid for hordes and debuffs. Being able to easier make dinosaurs fly i thought that making it difficult to navigate around the board would be helpful. Worked out alright.
