Hello fellow Lizards. I'm a huge lore nerd, and when I choose an army, lots of reading, planning and consideration goes into picking my faction/sub faction. The same goes for my Seraphon. After reading through the lore in the old and new book, I've landed on Fangs of Sotek. Their color scheme is incredible and I feel they push Aztec aesthetics with the whole sacrificing element etc. All of this made me wonder what you guys thought and if you have a favourite sub-allegiance, and if you go into similar phases of consideration? Fang of Sotek is a clear winner. They are "half coalesced" so it is the best of both worlds. They are mostly Skinks so they actually have some personality. They talk the common tongue and trade with the cities of sigmar. They preform blood sacrifices and blame it on daughters of khaine. Compare that to dracothian's tail who just like to comedown fight and leave.
Fangs of Sotek are the only ones to have anything resembling in depth characterisation within AOS, so it definitely has to be them. It helps that they’re how I’ve done my army as well.
I like Koatl's Claw because their space ship got hijacked and their Slan lord is sick and can't do much so the Saurus just kind of forgot their purpose and became insane monsters who purge all chaos taint they come across.
Since we are talking about him, who is Sotek in age of sigmar? Back in fantasy the profit of sotek and cult of sotek were going against the slann when they worshiped and summoned him. He might be real but he also might not be. He also might be dracothian but who knows. But do the Slann now accept him as a god? Do the Slann know their army is called the fangs of sotek or is Fang of Sotek just the name the Skinks call the army because they are worshipping Sotek when they are in the mortal realms away from the eyes of the Slann.
Didn't the Slann have a conference call in Fantasy and decide that Sotek was indeed worthy of worship? I would very much like to see some actual story progression with the Seraphon other than "they show up randomly to fight Chaos."
As I recall after the prophet of sotek summoned giant jungle snakes to repel the skaven the slann had to accept there must be some power or truth to sotek. I really like how sotek is this “god” that popped up and has wide worship from skinks and even some slanns, and evidence shows that sotek does have some influence wether a god or not. I would think that since the slanns have somewhat abandoned the ways of the old ones and seek to figure things out on their own, sotek will be far more important to them
