"I am glad to meet you. May Law find you a way. My name is Shiro" Shiro bows his head in respect to Ohmen and then orders some of the soup from the barmaid.
At the words axe and throw, garutis instinctively reaches for his axe.. he unsheathes it and..... starts balancing his mug of ale on the axe. Extended conversation is boring to garutis so he might liven it up a bit
Shiro watches the exchange. He has a growing feeling that he will regret not experiencing what this group has to offer. He thinks his question to Eugene "Are you going to be hiring them?" And wonders to himself what he will do if he doesn't.
Smiling, Eugene replies casually to Shiro (and ONLY to Shiro). <Well, yes and yet no. I do not have a use for a crew at the moment, as I mentioned. Nor do I have a use for a party of adventurers, unless they wish to hunt herbs for me.> To the rest of the group, the illithid shrugs and pulls out a pouch from his belt. From it, he pulls a wad of some unusual, purple-colored... fungus? It looks a little like purple cauliflower, smells like a shiitake mushroom, and given how much Eugene enjoys it, apparently tastes like brains? He speaks mentally to all of you as he eats. <Well, therein lies the issue. I do not really need to hire adventurers at this time. I know of some places where you could find work though, and I am willing to ferry you elsewhere should you wish. Any friend to Garutis is a friend of mine! Well, as long as you do not kill my mushrooms or steal my tobacco, that is. However, should you wish, I would be willing to hire you on as guards for a time, until we reach another place. There has been word of scro attacks in this sphere, and while I am confident I could outrun them, I do not think my, um, "crew,"> he says, and you can feel the quotes fall into place around that word, <could hold off a ship full of scro and their allies.>
Satisfied, Shiro leans back. He decided that he would feel out the members of the party during the voyage, maybe even starting now. He looks around the table and realizes that he has not interacted with one of the members yet. The... Shark Man (for lack of. a better term). He tries to get his attention.
Drakk laughs at Tarkaz's words and replies "Of course Lil'usk is welcome! Glad to have you!". Hearing Eugene speak, Drakk looks a bit shocked before replying "Oh thank you! We will certainly take it into consideration. When do you leave? I think we will still check for other potential jobs just incase an opportunity presented itself, but it would be great to work for you!"
Izema looks up from his mug "Ah my apologies shiro(regret) the recent events weigh heavy on my mind.(wistful sadness) what is it that you need?(curiosity)"
Shiro is slightly confused by the lack of expression on the Sharkman’s face and the strange hand weaving he is doing. He racks his brain for what kind of creature this is, but draws a blank. Obviously not human though... “Greetings,” Shiro starts in Common, “May Law find you a way. Are you familiar with these parts? I am in urgent need of supplies.”
“And you Ohmen?” Shiro invites the strange one, thinking this may also be a good opportunity to find out more about them.
Izema shakes himself and grins "sorry my mind was on a friend now gone and i was speaking as if he was here" he rubs his chin looking Shiro up and down "it looks like you come from a long way off i can help find what you need around hear if the gear is not familiar to you"
Shiro, turns to Eugene and thinks at him: “I need supplies, I believe the surrounding area is safe. Summon me if you suspect anything.” Standing, he adjusts his sword belt and does one last survey of the surrounds. Strangely, no-one wants to meet his eyes. Shrugging he turns to Izema and Ohmen “Shall we?”
Eugene’s words echoing within Ohmen looks toward the illithid… Free travel and hospitality… Perhaps this bond with garutis ran deeper and for longer than Ohmen had initially thought. From first impressions, However deceiving they may be, the traveller could see the glimmer of compassion and softness reflecting back at her in their eyes. Tobacco and mushrooms arose the question if Eugene knew much about different herbs and fungi along with their properties, whether those be medicinal or otherwise. A yearning for this sort of knowledge and practice was rooted deep within Ohmen, showing itself during his conversations with Kia… And it was at that moment he heard his name being called. Shaking her head and snapping out of thoughts the traveller looks around before her eyes rest on Shiro. Having previously discussed wanting to check out the market before dark, They slowly get up, walking over. “Er Yeah I will come. I have actually been meaning to visit more of the town before dark.’ They shed a slight smile. Immediately Wisdom’s head perks up from the bowl of stew which they had been picking clean of leftovers. Dropping a small chunk of, what looked to be hearty potato, from the beak they hop closer, clearly eager. Having thanked all around the table the traveller picks up her now empty bowl of stew and mug’s, returning them to the counter before walking over to Shiro and Izema, their cloak, white garments and hair gently flowing on an invisible breeze.
Izema sets out with the others toward the merchant district asking directions when necessary. first things first he needs a black smith. stopping into a shop he looks around asking of the prices weighing the swords against each other he does not use weapons but he knows good steal when he sees it. "shiro try this on" he tosses him a shirt of rings made with the care and grace expected of master craft.
with the swords he takes much longer limiting himself to those that match shiros own he parses threw them discarding some sorting others aside for further inspection. as the swords dwindle he takes more and more time with each testing an edge here having shiro hold one before he turns it aside. at last he is satisfied a cold steal edge from the far east runes down the side it thrums. reminds him of home and the pieces of it he wears with him. "try this i think you will like it
Garutis is now feeling bored, so he watches Izema throw a shiny shirt to shiro. However he forgets he was balancing his ale on the tip of his axe, which comes down on the neaderthals head, drenching him in tasty liquid
Drew watched as Shiro, Izema and Ohmen left the table. Drew turned to Eugene, and said, "Earlier you said that people were frightened by your people, frightened enough to even start a witch hunt. Why were they so afraid? was it something your people did or was it just the way you look?"
Drakk turns to Eugene and says "I apologise for my friend here, he can be a bit blunt sometimes.". Then Drakk sits back and continues eating some soup he ordered.
Shiro inspects the items being speedily thrown at him and cocks an eyebrow. It seems Izema is quite the merchant and has an eye for quality. Each piece he is given is, on inspection, extremely high qualtiy and Shiro parts with his gold glady to possess these artefacts. "Where to next, friend?"
"next?" izema cocks an eye "now that you have protection from steal we will get you protection from things more esoteric." he shifts his shoulders and his cloak shimmers"we will make quite a pare"he says laughing
