Hey all, I have a reasonable number of models now but am unsure how to best field them for either 1k or 2k games. The times I have tried I think I am just not using combinations right and am generally getting destroyed.. I currently have: 1x old blood on carnosaur 1x bastiladon (solar engine) 1x old blood on foot 1x Astrolith bearer 1x Slann 1x old school Tehenhauin (who I use as a skink star priest) 1x Oxyotl 5x chameleon skinks 2x salamander hunting packs 2x kroxigor units (of 3) 10x knights 30x saurus 40x skinks Or am I missing something fundamental still to really set myself up to not be ruined in every game I play Thanks for any advice!
Here is a 1k and 2k list based off what you own. Try playing the Slann as Lord Kroak. 1000pts: Skinks and Kroak Allegiance: Seraphon - Constellation: Fangs of Sotek Leaders: Skink Starpriest (120) - General - Command Trait: Master of Star Rituals - Spell: Hand of Glory Lord Kroak (320) - Spell: Stellar Tempest Saurus Astrolith Bearer (140) - Artefact: Serpent God Dagger Battleline: 40 x Skinks (240) - Boltspitters Celestite Daggers & Star Bucklers 10 x Saurus Warriors (90) - Clubs 10 x Saurus Warriors (90) - Clubs Total: 1000 / 1000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 0 / 200 Wounds: 77 Make sure to keep the Starpriest near the Skink blob to make use of both the FoS Parting Shot command ability and Serpent's Staff buff. It also helps to have a forward vector to use as Slann's/Kroak's Arcane Vassal. Use the Saurus Warrior to roadblock and speed bump important enemy units or to open steal objectives. 2000pt Mix Koatl's Claw Allegiance: Seraphon - Constellation: Koatl's Claw Leaders: Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur (230) - General - Command Trait: Dominant Predator - Artefact: Eviscerating Blade Skink Starpriest (120) - Spell: Celestial Harmony Lord Kroak (320) - Spell: Stellar Tempest Saurus Astrolith Bearer (140) Battleline: 30 x Saurus Warriors (270) - Spears 10 x Saurus Knights (200) - Lances 30 x Skinks (180) - Boltspitters Celestite Daggers & Star Bucklers Units: 6 x Kroxigor (280) 8 x Salamander Hunting Pack (220) Total: 1960 / 2000 Extra Command Points: 0 Allies: 0 / 400 Wounds: 145 Turn One, buff up your Saurus Knight and send them in! Use your Saurus Warrior for your next wave. You will have some tough choice to make between placing Serpent's Staff on either Skinks, Warriors, or Knights. Try to make sure you have either your Hunting Packs or your Skinks near the Kroxigor to give them the +1 to hit buff. Save your Oldblood for combats he can win quickly and won't be bogged down in. Things to Improve Your Collection: Balewind Vortex Geminids of Ulgysh Second Starpriest You have a pretty decent collection. It is a bit of everything though. Which is honestly the most fun way to collect and play in my opinion. The weakness however, is that Seraphon thrive on internal synergies. These synergies require more focused list to preform at competitive levels. Deciding if you want to play Starborne of Coalesced should be your first consideration. Then which subfactions if any. Getting a couple steggadon kits would let you build a Thunderlizards army. More Saurus Warriors or Knights and you are starting to have a solid Koatl's Claw. Lots more skinks or Chameleon Skinks and now you have a scary FoS foundation. I hope this is helpful, Cheers!
What an amazing response thank you so much! You really are a wizard Yeah my collection is a hodge podge of getting back into the hobby after a decade and slowly stripping and repainting some old models I found in the loft (my lovely grumpy metal slann) I think I may grab another box of saurus to start and maybe actually get a Kroak.. I like the idea of a more Coalesced feral army and chewing people up than leaning heavily into magic. Really really appreciate this, I will have a go in a couple of weeks (UK based so clubs are just starting to open back up) and let you know how running these goes! Have a great day and thank you again!
