I normally use that slice of bread to make an over-easy egg on toast. The crust gives it more rigidity so my egg doesn't meet tragedy.
At our house, this piece is generally transferred to the next bag and we end up with a whole bunch of these pieces. Eventually, we concede that nobody is going to eat it, so it gets dried out and turned into bread crumbs.
Wow. I mean, I get it. Obviously everyone has a slightly different set of taste buds. It's just funny to me as ever since I was very young this was always "Duck Food" and saved for when we next went to a pond of some kind. ... ... Um.... ... ... You're not a duck are you @Imrahil ? ( )
The next time I make brownies I will call them virgin brownies and see what response I get. My brownies are special (I've made the second recipe several times), but not that special. Since the CCP virus hit, I have been baking more. I really like the end pieces of my bread, but I dislike the end pieces of store bought bread (though they make good bases for French toast).
Just for the record, I was totally right, got a genuine laugh out loud from my wife on this one. She remembers my PS3 days...
