Just exactly as advertised - a Thunder Lizard list focused around Dread Saurians meant to take advantage of all the buffs to increase Saves, Attacks, and Wounds. Leader: Engine of the Gods - General - Prime Warbeast - Fusil of Conflagration: Used to heal, provide artillery support and take advantage of all the buffs offered by Thunder Lizards for Monster-Heroes. Battleline/Units: x 2 Skinks (10 Units) x 1 Saurus Warriors (10 Units) About as cheap as you can get and taken because they are required for a legal build. One could say they also add bodies for objective capping. Behemoths: x 3 Dread Saurians The Meat and Potatoes of all this. Simply put, Dread Saurians are my favorite units, and I am going to use them. It is a fun build, and played right and in the right situations (and with enough luck) it can actually work. Is it fun? You're darned right! Would I take this to a Tournament? Believe it or not, I'm just that crazy! = P
Very fun looking list. I think the build is capable enough to kill it's way through a lot. Objectives will be rough. In a majority of cases you might find yourself with only 3 Dreads on the table after turn 2. I could honestly see this going 3 & 2 though at a GT/MT.
I am honestly wondering if I should just hide the Saurus and Skinks behind the Dreads for that reason until a lot of the enemy units are dead. The Engine also has a chance to summon some Saurus too, though I realize this is not likely in any game.
Actually without a Slann the engine is incapable of summoning. I'd probably keep it near one or two of the Dreads and hope to get a heal or two on them before it dies.
Good to know. The main reason I have it though is also because with the right buffs a hero Monster Stega can do something like 20+ wounds on an average attack against a 4+ save. You can see this on a Caleb Hastings video on youtube. With Thunder Lizard, Coalesced, etc, the buffs combine so that a Stega with a Chiefdom can get something like a 30 point average attack against 4+ saves (that is with Command point and Priest support, etc. ) and with just flat buffs this averages at 22 points. The Engine will do less of course, but even then, I think we are looking at 15-20 point averages, which is still pretty substantial. The heals and ranged attacks are just icing on the cake.
This looks super fun, the problem I see is that Dread Saurian really really wants for a Slann. That base is just HUGE, and if you are playing with any kind of terrain at all, their movement can be shut down very easily. Slann moves their spell ignore from a 6+ to a 4+, but even more importantly has the ability to make the Dreads fly, to get them out of a sticky spot.
