Hello, I want to run a Koatl's claw or/and a Thunder Lizard army. I've bought 2 start collecting Seraphon, 2 Stegadon (one is an Engine of Gods), 10 Saurus Guards, a Skink Starpriest and a Slann. I have tried to make lists in Koatl's claw and Thunder Lizard with same entries : (Order - Seraphon) [1,410pts] Leader [590pts] Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur [210pts] Celestite Warspear Skink Starpriest [120pts] Slann Starmaster [260pts] Behemoth [240pts] Stegadon [240pts] Skystreak Bow Battleline [580pts] 5 Saurus Guard [100pts] 10 Saurus Knights [200pts] Celestite Warspear 5 Saurus Knights [100pts] Celestite Warspear 20 Saurus Warriors [180pts] Celestite Spear And for the Thunder Lizard list : (Order - Seraphon) [1,610pts] Leader [850pts] Engine of the Gods [260pts] Saurus Scar-Veteran on Carnosaur [210pts] Celestite Warspear Skink Starpriest [120pts] Slann Starmaster [260pts] Behemoth [220pts] Bastiladon [220pts] Solar Engine Battleline [540pts] 5 Saurus Guard [100pts] 10 Saurus Knights [200pts] Celestite Warspear Stegadon [240pts] Skystreak Bow With my 2 box of Start Collecting I can add an Oldblood on Carnosaur or a Troglodon and I really don't know what is the better for the 2 lists. I think the Scar-Vet is better than the Oldblood with all the knights I want to play, and I love the 6 attacks with the Warspear. My goal is to have two 2000 pts versions of Lizardmens : > add some Knights and a Firelance Bataillion in the Koatl's Claw list > maybe adding Kroxigors and the Thunderquake Bataillon in the Thunder Lizard list So, what's the best move? Oldblood on Carnosaur or a Troglodon? Thanks for your time, and sorry for the english mistakes I made.
you can have both if you use Crowsfoots start collecting guide. https://www.lustria-online.com/thre...rom-your-start-collecting-seraphon-box.20560/
The troglodon would be good if you plan to switch the slann out for kroak eventually. if not then carnosaur will offer more to you as a damage dealer as the troglodon absent of kroak doesn't do enough for you.
Ok, I will stay with the slann because I want a Teenage Mutant Slannmaster Frog/Turtle . So let's build an Oldblood on Carnosaur. Amazing, thanks for showing me this thread. It's gonna take me time and hard work but the result can be fantastic.
Most tournaments allow conversions and the like. Since it is still a games workshop model i think even games workshop events would still allow it
Yes that is absolutely no problem anywhere, even GW stores if you do it like that. I'd say it takes quite some effort to make still and depends on what you wish to spend. If you build a Troglodon you can build an old blood on foot (or make it a sunblood) and one of these are needed for the sunclaw battalions. I'd say using the carnosaur as either old blood or scar vet it is only really important what you made if you play with one of each. You have a strong base, you thunderlizard setup is close to what I am running to a tournament next weekend, however I will be using Kroak, a troglodon, 3 kroxigors and a thunderquake battalion, which in an optimized list is hard to ignore if going thunderlizards in 2000 pts. For Koatls claw you also might want to look at the battalions and plan around that, do you want to focus on knights or saurus warriors? A sunclaw battalion basically needs 50 saurus to be really good 30/10/10 for the 3 units at least. This is beccause of the +1 attack on saurus at 15+ models which you want to keep as long as possible for the primary combat unit. For thunderlizards you already got the most important parts, EotG, Stegadon and Basti, the carnosaur is also good here, then you need either some kroxigors or razordons/salamanders to make a thunderquake battalion. Due to playing coalesced you do not get 10 bravery, so the weapon beasts are really vulnerable to running away after a few skink handler deaths, however especially salamanders are absolutely terrifying in combat, with a potential 5 jaw attacks at rend 2 d3 dmg in melee! I really like Kroxigors though and they are good at running near a basti or stegadon for +1 to hit from skinks nearby. With the TQ attack bonus, they got 5 dmg 2 attacks and 3 jaws attacks each, becoming one of the most damaging units per point in the game. Bringing 6 Kroxigors is not a bad idea either.
