Hi my dear lizards. As a lot of people this 2020 we have had time to begin or return to the hobby. I didn't paint anything since I was 12 and now I'm 33 lol, but when I began to paint this May I have kept myself painting non-stop until today. I knew this forum long time ago so, like I said in my introduction post it's time to post here and meet with the lustrian people I'm going to post all the thing I've been doing since I started this year, as I said a lot of time without painting but this time taking very seriously my learning process because it's more difficult to meet with friends to play, but we have more room to paint our sea of gray plastic And we begin with: Cold One Knights from the Seraphon Start Collecting box. As I was learning I began with a cold one and an old 4th gen bretonian knight and use both to practice and learn techniques. All of these photos are from April if I remember correctly. Firs of all learn to fill gaps with green stuff and remove errors from the plastic models. Learning to true metallic, leather and claws (bones, teeth, skulls...) and the time-saver dry brush Learning to do scales with glazing on the shield, trying to make jade-crystal weapons and choosing two tones of color. At this time I learned that I love to make two tones of color on miniatures XD And here the final result that served to me to complete the squad. Next post I'll post the rest of the cold ones that I finished a month ago.
Very nice details on this model. I love the glazing on the shield and the colors of the saddle. I look forward to the other models. Grrr, Imrahil
Hi again guys! I have found the rest of the photos. So I'm going to resume a little the process of finishing these little cold ones. After finishing the first model I began to chain painting the different parts. This process was... well, a little time-consuming and frustrating because of the lack of sense of progress when I was doing the skin. But in the end I got a fine and equal color to all the body parts. After that, the process to paint leather, claws, teeth and eyes was better... Giving a final result helps a lot! Next step, I focused on make weapons and shields, I was very tired on making claws and leather and needed to change a little in the process so with the previous glazing techniques learned when I did the first cold one, I polished these weapons and shields a little more, giving more illumination and exaggerating the colors a little more. And after finishing the lizard weapons, made a quick paint with the bodies of the knights. Basically lighter skin tone on the flesh and darker on the scales. With a light purple dry brush on the scales after finishing all the bodies. But with the heads... I took a next step. I wanted to paint a layering technique on the heads to make something vibrant and colorful like the shields, beginning from a very dark color to something very light. Here is the result. The rest of the equipment was more entertaining. The banner, the music drums, the alpha weapon, etc. I used it to go further and learn how to do gems, marble/obsidian, worn skin, define muscles... Finally, basing and the final touches to banner. Didn't have much material to do the bases and the look of the feet of the cold ones with that patches of mud are terrible, so I did a layer of sand with PVA glue and added a mix of everything I got in the kitchen: condiment, seasoning, teabags... Everything that had leaves XD and a little of green foam. Then I washed and added a mix of dark brown and green tones. On top of it I made a little of over brush with lighter green tones and finally little touches with fluor paints. And this was my project to begin again with the hobby ^^ This August I was on summer vacation so after finishing this project I began to paint something more sci-fi, and have painted an Infinity miniature, next post I'll upload some photos.
Fantastic work! The unit looks great. I especially like the banner top. You should be really pleased with them
Hi again my lizards! After painting my cold ones, I needed a break of lizards so I choose something very different. This time was a sergeant hacker from Panoceania Army of Infinity game. First! Learn to do urban ruins and something like sci-fi armor! A lot of change coming from my cold ones. For the ruins used cork glued with cardboard, ground texture and some cut wire to make rebar effects. The external plates of the armor I used blue, green and yellow, a little odd result in my opinion but very sci-fi termo-optic like. For a hacker found it awesome XD Next step, painting fabric. First time doing a cape or a cloak. Red color is very transparent and I think I didn't get enough contrast at the end but was cool the process of painting it. And well... the rest was the typical blue of panoceania and the leather (nothing new learned), with some details on the weapon, but not much effort but into it. Here is the final result. And next post I'll upload what I'm working now (finally) after some sci fi needed more themes to learn more things. So next project is a little more furry
Really like how you have painted those cold one riders, really beautiful paintwork! ...and that panoceania model is beautiful too! Really great to see some infinity models; I really like how this one is turning out. Are you planning of branching out more into infinity as well? Would love to see what you come up with, and what factions
Thx a lot! They took a lot of time but was because I was learning with them. The result was so cool I keep with the hobby ^^ Well I'll do more models for sure, it comes from this set, and was a gift so... I'll keep with these models. My friends want to see the progress too, but at this moment I need to change the theme to learn more things. I'have been keeping an eye on those TAGs of I nfinity although hahaha. And now I'm working on this. A resin model from dragon trappers lodge. Grimpaw and Lili if I remember correctly. Actually have finished the wolf and almost the base, and keep doing the archer.
Hi guys! I have finally finished my Grimpaw & Lila model. Here is the result. With black background With white background. And now I'm thinking on return to my lizards with this model. A Lizardman from Artisan Guild.
Hi all! Couldn't wait to next week to begin the project, so I have prepared the base for my little lizard. Now I need some inspiration for the paint scheme, I want blueish typical seraphon but not very sure what color to paint on the torso and the crest.
That looks excellent! I imagine that lizard being painted with a red crest and blue (or green if your lizards are green) body, kind of like the Prophet of Sotek
Thx for the comments! I'm going to keep that idea Warden, but combining a more fleshy style on the torso and the membranes of the crest. Here is my progress. Begin experimenting with the torso, and then trying two new blues recently acquired to make a more dramatic cenital light. Torso with cenital light veeery proud of the results. Adding all my blues, mostly to experiment on the mini. Final lights and details on the scales
Finally done two days ago! Wanted to post here before instagram, but I was away from home. Here is my new hero, probably meeting the sunblood role heh.
I am not the biggest fan of the sculpt (not sure why, probably the fin on the head) but you painted it very neatly! I dig how you shaded the muscles and the little highlights on the shield.
