sure hear are the ones from FEC

    Mount Traits
Similar to artifacts, you can pick one to give to your mounted ghoul kings. And for each battalion you have, you can pick another.
TERRORGHEIST TRAITS: HERO mounted on Royal Terrorgheist only

    • Deathly Fast: This model can run and still shoot in same turn.
    • Razor-Clawed: Actually not bad. But relatively weak on a Terrorgheist, since most of his damage comes from his bite, which already does mortal wounds and has a TWO REND.
    • Horribly Infested: When the monster dies, inflict 3 mortal wounds instead of D3 with the Infested ability. This is actually really good.
    • Horribly Resilient: Heal 3 wounds instead of D3 for Royal Blood.
    • Gruesome Bite: Re-roll hit rolls with the Terrorgheist's Fanged Maw.
    • Devastating Scream: Add 1 to the roll for Death Shriek.

What kind of CA did you have in mind? I cant really think of any units besides Slann that it makes sense for the Trog to synergize with.

Just of the top of my head it may make sense for synergies for Kroxigor and Skinks, since both would be a suitable screen for them. A +1 to hit/wound rolls would be nice, but we have other options for that. Movement CA would be great on troglodon since because of arcane vassal you want them moving adn you probably want a screen that can keep up and keep ahead.

You could give it the exacy same CA that our Stegadon Skink Chief has. (+1 melee attacks for units wholly within 24") Could theme it where the Trog poison is magically granted to nearby models.

I don't know, maybe it IS just a synergy for our Slann? It seems like it's only a high wound and high move spell platform/basic wizard with some ability to fight and survive. It's doesn't seem like a "combat beast" whose meant to be in the thick of it. Maybe that's all GW intends it to be (even though many of us want more)?

That's not saying that it couldn't benefit from rend on it's bite or claws. ;)

but it doesn't do that very well! All it does is extend the range on a ability that skinks already have. And base skinks are better platforms for your slann cuz they are useful outside of that one ability

I'm the furthest thing from an evaluator of AoS/Seraphon, so that's probably fair. To me it seems like a board-wide spell reach is pretty useful. But it's no doubt that other skink wizards are cheaper and do have other helpful abilities.

The Trog seems basically like a mashup of a Carno and a Skink wizard. It didn't knock me over in combat, but it held its own in repeated fights with a resurrected unit of dire wolves. To the OP, it probably should have rend -1 on it's jaws (or claws) at least, to make it feel more big & monstrous. I had success with it as a caster as well since it has access to a decent Slann-only spell (in addition to its extra skink spell) and a +1 bonus to cast and dispel. The regeneration is a nice perk.

In general, perhaps it's just more of a "niche model"; not as useful in lists outside of a Slann or Kroak?

I wouldn't take him outside a kroak starborne list. The extra summoning dice he makes combined with board wide channeling and his useful ness as a distraction carnifex is the reason to take him. Usually I will summing his points back over the game so I don't mind having trog.

Other options could be a second cast/unbind, a CP generation similar to starseer, or if he's really just meant as a spell conduit, give the slann an additional +1 to cast when they channel spells through an oracle

Yeah, I love the Troglodon, it's one of the best-looking models in the game. Too bad they can't figure out how to make it good. But then I've heard that all the way back in Fantasy it still wasn't a good option, so maybe they just don't have a clear idea of what they want that model to do. Kind of like our entire faction :p

But no, we absolutely need mount traits. Most other factions that have mounted heroes have them, and now IDK are getting them. They'd better finally give our dinosaurs some love because it just plain hurts that GW seems to think that they should be the weakest monster mounts in the game for whatever reason...

A good way to help the troops out would be to give maybe 2 rend on the acid breath or give em a decent ward save. But yes giving us fucking mount traits would fix a metric shitload of things that are issues

Rend 2 would be nice but the trog already has regen so ward is a little redundant. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it needs a CA. Without one, it doesn't synergize with our army. You could give it rend, mount traits, and a ward save, but it will still be meh because it won't wombo combo with anything other tha a Slann or Thunder Lizard (even then, Trog just gets in the way because comet overlaps).

I agree completely. I think it's our only hero without any abilities or command abilities to buff other troops. Yes, being a board-wide Slann spellcasting lightning rod is good, but paying the point cost for a large monster just for the ability to channel spells through the monster that sucks in combat and has no role without a Slann in the army isn't good.

They really ought to make it a viable Slann substitute, which is what I think they were going for when they gave it a +1 to casting and the Comet's Call spell. But for that to truly work it also either needs 2 spellcasts per turn or a CA to spend buffing itself or it's troops.

The Slann synergy is what the rules writers are worried about, I guess.

Kroak is auto-include. A Troglodon with rectrices, +1 save and +2 wounds is already a serious fire magnet because of Kroak. If it was capable of more than a gentle caress, we’d start hearing ‘broken!’

Not even just that, people call things OP all the time because they don't take the time to think about what their opponents army is, its strengths and weaknesses, and what targets are priority. I had this same problem with Skaven. Kept losing to my friend until I thought about how to break his clanrat death star.
