Nope, I'm not in the mood to give Disney my money right now. I'll probably subscribe to Disney+ for a single month in 2021 to binge watch Mandalorian and Obi Wan, then unsubscribe.

I just assumed Obi Wan lives a stressful life hiding from the Empire and either hearing news or feeling Force vibes from the Empire's many atrocities.

So you've been risking the spoilers within my spoiler tagged memes?

I've been reading some of the spoilers. I don't care as much about spoilers as I once did. As a moderator I approve the spoiler tags in principle, I just don't find myself caring about Star Wars much anymore. I don't give a hoot about Star Wars anymore. Over the decades I've given Star Wars a lot of hoots, but now I'm all out of hoots.

I haven't read any spoilers for Obi Wan, I just made the educated guess that spending 20 years on Tatooine is unpleasant.

I have a few hoots left for Star Trek, but not many. I think Star Trek can be saved if it is pried away from Alex Kurtzman. I think the only thing that can save Star Wars is a ten year hiatus followed by a hard reboot.

In general I sympathize, but as an original fan I'm sad to hear this. I guess I still get excited about some Star Wars things on principle. Like, I think it might be cool to actually experience "Star Wars Land" in Disney; get on the Falcon and such. I still have a fondness for the OT and might watch it from time to time. But, admittedly I'm not excited about much new Disney Wars media (movies, shows, games, etc). Originally, I didn't have high hopes for Mando, but it won me over enough to call it fun to watch. The first season was better than this one in my opinion. They're doing so much name, character and place dropping in this season that it feels like a "set up for something else" season, and I'm wary of (instead of excited for) what it portends. Hopefully still decent TV, with minimal spinoffs.

Unfortunately it is based solely on the Disney Trilogy. A shame, I was really excited about it when they first announced it.

I disagree; the hiatus is not required. All we need is 5 simple steps:
    1. Put Kathleen Kennedy's head on a spike (accompanied by the heads of all her little minions too)
    2. Place any combination of Favreau / Filoni / Lucas in charge
    3. Scrap the Disney Trilogy as a show of good faith to the fandom
    4. Produce a Knights of the Old Republic Trilogy and/or Darth Bane Trilogy
    5. Profit

I don't think at ten year hiatus is necessary, but at least a year or two without any Disney Star Wars to wash the bad taste out of my mouth would be necessary to get me personally on board.

Mandalorian is not good enough to make me forgive the mistakes and it's goodness only makes me angry "Why couldn't you do this before! The new actors you put in the Disney movies are good actors they just had crappy lines!"

If I may, there were some cheesy lines even in the OT. I really think it was the story in general that let them down. Plus, I don't really think the visions of everyone involved connected with the Star Wars overall fan base.

I agree that a short hiatus would help, which is fine because it takes a while to write, shoot, add effects and edit a movie. I mean, it's all a pipe dream any way b/c Disney likely won't make (or remake) another Star Wars/Skywalker saga movie.

That's fair. Despite that, I just hope it would be fun to be surrounded by Star Wars things/environments. Kind of like the Harry Potter part of Universal.

Even though I wanted more OT land, I knew it would be something more Disney trilogy focused. I'm okay with a "new" planet for the setting; a place that's hot and humid. I'm just not as okay with the new storyline focus/theme.

    *UPDATE
YEARS ago, a buddy of mine and I toyed around with designing a whole Star Wars park (Disney World fashion). There were (most?) of the OT planets surrounding a giant Death Star like Epcot.
-Tatooine had the "Beggars Canyon Run" coaster, animatronic animal rides (banthas, dewbacks, etc), the Cantina, and Jabba's Palace (can't remember what we did there... restaurant/stage shows?).
-Hoth had a snow speeder coaster that went around 1-2 AT-ATs, ice cream treats, and other stuff that escapes me at the moment.
-I think Cloud City was mostly pleasure/relaxation stuff? Or shopping, restaurants, grown up stuff?
-Coruscant was the "castle" area for our park. Kind of like the Emerald City of Oz.
-Endor was similar to Swiss Family Robinson & Huck Finn Island (Disney), with kid stuff, easy ropes courses through an Ewok village, water log rides, that kind of stuff. Wait! Obviously, we had speeder bike rides, too.
-Mon Calamari was naturally all water/aquarium stuff VERY much like Disney's Finding Nemo walk through experience. I think we even tried to be clever with an "elevator" entrance that "descended" into the ocean (when all it really did was turn around slowly into the aquarium).
-I don't remember if we did anything for Dagobah? We did try to do some faux memorials for Alderaan and the Battle of Hoth.
-The Death Star involved two rides "recreating" the two attacks on it. One went mostly around the outside and a "trench" while the other went through the inside. That might have been too difficult, but I was inspired by the Loch Ness Monster coasters (of Busch Gardens Williamsburg, USA) which intertwine.

I would largely agree with this, though I'd also like to see Gareth Edwards come back as a director so we can have more grimdark stuff, and I'd rather see a Trilogy set either in Darth Bane era or in the so-called 'High Republic' era they've been talking about, which is set about 200 years before Episode 1 and 800 years after the Old Republic era. I'm not interested in the Old Republic era given that Revan is pretty much a remake of Anakin and the impression I got from seeing KoTOR characters in Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes was that the storyline was very much like the Original Trilogy again. I want us to leave the OT storyline entirely and have something completely new, both in era and plot.

With regards to current Star Wars media, I'm still waiting patiently for the Cassian Andor series and the Obi-Wan series. The Cassian Andor series has been confirmed to have started principal photography at last:
    https://www.cbr.com/disney-plus-cassian-andor-series-filming/

And the Obi-Wan series is believed to be starting filming in March next year:
    https://www.digitalspy.com/tv/ustv/a30368470/obi-wan-kenobi-tv-air-date-cast-plot-trailer/

It seems that both are being planned to be miniseries, which would be a bit of a shame if they were just six episodes each, without any sequel series, but I'm still looking forward to these. If all goes well they'll definitely be joining my established canon of Episodes I-VI, the Clone Wars, Solo and Rogue One.

I'd be interested to see if the Sequel Trilogy does get scrapped. I just hope if they do replace it, they'll avoid simply repeating the plot of the OT and actually do something different and better with the characters. Preferrably I'd also like them to do away with the Empire once and for all, and bring in a new threat. Perhaps something that was caused or created by Darth Sidious not long before he died, but is more linked to the Sith than the Empire.

Though if they did try to make a new Sequel Trilogy, how would they bring Leia into it, given that Carrie Fisher's passed on?

I'd rather see the Bane Trilogy myself, but Revan is extremely popular, so his movie could bring fans back in.

I think that ship has sailed. They blew their chance for a proper Sequel Trilogy. Just realign the canon with the EU again.

I would like to believe that audiences & fans could handle another SW trilogy, but I feel it's overload at this time. Honestly, I think @NIGHTBRINGER is right... that ship has sailed. No movie studio has retconned an entire movie series (I don't think).

I think part of the "challenge" with a Star Wars story, and part of what I think Disney was trying to say in the Force Awakens (even though I didn't like it at the time), is that SW is a classic mythic/legend/hero story. So, in essence, it IS the same story repeated over and over. A simple hero who has a great destiny. I think it's a big part of why OT Star Wars is such a touchstone for many people; it's the retelling of a myth/legend. Plus, it's kind of the classic movie hero storyline. So, people might get tired of seeing it again.
One of the Disney Trilogy's biggest sins is that they didn't just use the hero's journey as a frame, or borrow inspiration from the OT, they wholesale ripped off some of the exact concepts/scenes from the OT. At least in the first movie. The second movie just went off the rails for me, and I never saw the third, but I watched a couple of reviews. There were other sins, but those have been discussed elsewhere.

Blah, blah, blah. Sorry for repeating things that many already understand. We'll see. Actually, I feel Disney is making smarter choices by keeping SW on the small screen for now. I am even satisfied with a mini-series; provided that it's decent. I already have the OT Alec Guinness Kenobi, PT McGregor Kenobi, plus numerous seasons of Clone Wars. Not sure about a Cassian series/mini-series. Mando already feels a little like an anti-hero, although the character is more classic heroic I guess. I don't know that Disney would push the envelope for a true anti-hero if they did a Cassian story? Just like Solo, he'll end up being a good guy already who doesn't shoot first.

I'm not familiar with Darth Bane's story, or much of the Old Republic/High Republic. I played a little of the online game, but I don't know if that's part of it or not. It felt kind of like PT/Clone Wars in a MMORPG.
