    No, just no.

Filoni does have some respect towards the original six films and knows how to do grimdark (I’d rather have him do it than Abrams for example) but he still has incorrect priorities that prevent me from wanting to see him take the helm, namely because, as someone else said on YouTube, “he hates Grievous and loves Ahsoka”.

This is a pretty accurate summary of Filoni.

In the Clone Wars series he makes Grievous almost a comic relief character who is almost continually beaten (there are a couple of exceptions including when he quite rightly slaughters the Nightsisters, but other than that he is generally shitted on), while Ahsoka can seemingly do no wrong. She survives Order 66, she survives a fight with Darth Vader (supposed to be the most powerful and feared Jedi killer since the Sith of the Old Republic) and survives the Galactic Civil War. She is being continually and repetitively shown in every Star Wars series to date, and now has the nerve to have her own series being made for her, despite her not even being in any of the films. The worst of all her crimes is that she is now allegedly becoming more widely-known than Qui-Gon Jinn.

If we gave Filoni complete control, we’d have more and more of this buggery.

I've only watched a few episodes of Clone Wars (and not in the right order), so I cannot speak much on Ashoka other than state that she is popular therefore has plot armor aplenty. I can say that my impression of Grievous from the prequel movies was that he was a C-list villain. He is a wheezing robot which is both weird and not very intimidating. He was a puppet of a puppet who never seemed to direct events.

How many of the seven seasons of Clone Wars is Grievous present. Just about every animated series I've ever seen has seen some form of villain decay.

I would definitely recommend giving the TV tropes article on villain decay a read. Off the top of my head, the only examples of a long running animated show that mostly avoided villain decay were Gargoyles, Young Justice, and Reboot. Gargoyles and Young Justice the villains rely on Xanatos Gambits, because Greg Weisman helms these shows and invented the Xanatos Gambit. I'm sure there are more shows that avoid villain decay, but the point is, it's hard to make an animated villain continue to appear threatening over and over again, especially if the villain is a wheezing robot with a bad pun for a name.

Reboot had an enormous tonal shift between season 2 and season 3, letting the villain actually win...a lot. Also, the late great Tony Jay was the voice actor for Megabyte. His villain voice is so badass that he ups the threat level of his characters just by his stage presence alone.

I guess if you maintain such a deep-seated hatred for Ahsoka, Filoni may not be the guy for you. You can have Kennedy then! :p

Did you not like the series finale of the CGI Clone Wars?

As for Grievous being menacing, the only time he was such was during his role in the Genndy Tartakovsky Clone Wars.

No thank you, I’ll take Gareth Edwards. He knows how to respect Star Wars plus give it some much-needed grimdarkness.

Haven’t seen series 7 yet, so can’t say. I’ll keep my mind open until I do.

I thought he was menacing in III because he still put up a good fight against Obi-Wan, a seasoned Jedi Master, even after he was disarmed. It was only in the Clone Wars series where he was truly messed up.

The Genndy series’ Grievous is unrealistic given that there is a lot of 2D cartoon physics going on that wouldn’t happen in live action or CGi Star Wars.

That series was fantastic and you can thank it for creating Grievous in the first place. I do agree that the characters on the show benefitted from having "toon force", but seeing as they all benefitted from it, Grievous still remains menacing. I have to agree with @Scalenex , I don't find him menacing at all in Episode III. He's just a throw away mini boss, before we get to the big boys.

Have you seen Doctor Sleep yet (one of the last good movies released before the lockdowns in my opinion)? I'm sure the villain's exaggerated way of saying hello is a subtle reference to Ewan McGregor (who is the protagonist of Doctor Sleep).

I created a thread about it long ago but no one really cared. If you liked The Shining you would like Doctor Sleep. Usually if the sequel is decades after the original, it's not a good thing, but this is an exception. Doctor Sleep is not a perfect movie, but is a perfect sequel, according to Shaffrillas.

    1) Expand the universe of the first film in meaningful ways.
    2) Continue the story in a new compelling way
    3) Expand the themes/introduce new themes
    4) Leave an undeniable impact on the franchise (in a good way).

Shrek 2, Empire Strikes Back, Toy Story 2, Batman the Dark Knights, Aliens are all perfect sequels by this criteria.
