The only full army if I remember correctly was for Warmaster. Other than that we got slim pickings for any information or units.

    Not even close.

It shouldn't be much of an issue overall, the Empire is pretty young when compared to the timeframe of most other WFB races.

on the fw website they classify the sold out chaos dwarves into "temporarily out of stock" and "no longer available" which makes me believe chaos dwarves are not gonna be abandoned entirely.

Apparently calls have been made into Forge World and it has been confirmed that the Chaos Dwarfs are being discontinued. I did not make the call myself, so I can't be certain though.

I suspect that they are just in the process of selling off what they have left. Time will tell.

Perhaps they’d be in some way affordable for the ordinary gamer

I really hope GW starts to do some damage control as most of the people in my area have already stopped caring about this future release. On a positive side I've gotten in a few 7th Ed games so not everything is bad.

    Not gonna happen I'm afraid.

GW stock has been on a steady increase and so they have no reason commercially to change their operating basis, meaning it will be redone armies that will require new purchases but somehow they will make it that you don't have to buy that much.

Unfortunately, I'm on the dark side of this now :( kind of given up on them doing a good job of it and will just stick with 8th thanks.

my actual interest in TOW could be revamped only if GW would confirm the presence of Tomb Kings.

I'm in a strange position regarding TOW. For all my want of playing a Lizardmen army as far back as 2004, It really wasn't until after Age of Sigmar came about that any of them were used in a game. Right now, the only models I have in that collection that are still on square bases are my original 24 skinks, a cold one of the fat block-headed variety, and an old metal carnosaur. Even still, I can't say I'd be interested in pursuing yet another iteration of Lizardmen outside of (hopefully) new sculpts and rules that make sense for the units they're supposed to portray.

Short of Nehekharans becoming available, I'd honestly consider collecting Asur, especially if there's some ability to key into a specific Ulthuan kingdom (Caledor or Saphery could be fun). Even then though, I want to see how they're handling the rules first before working up the hype.

They already did with the Settra meme from when they first confirmed it’s arrival, but given they’ll most likely be Forge World they won’t be worth it :(

But if it was FW we could possibly get that Titan from Storm of Magic! Otherwise I know they aren't going to say anything but it's how I feel. I've moved back to the games I liked and 7th is that game in general but 8th (with the right group) is also fun.

Why did i not notice this thread earlier xD

    Right here we go,

MUST HAVES / Things i want:
    - Lizardmen period, if it doesn't have lizzies, i won't be playing it
    - Square bases and the same miniature sizes, i'm not gonna buy a whole new army

    Things I am flexible on:
    - Timeline
    - New armies
    - basiclly everything aslong as my must haves are in it xD

Things I don't want in the game / DEAL BREAKERS:
    - I think i can cope with alot, but like i said, look at my must haves :p all the rest doesn't matter to me :p

    Interesting TOW news:
One chap over on EEFL recently decided to order some miniatures that were made during the Fantasy era from the GW website, and to his surprise the sets contained not just the AoS round bases, but also a pack of the corresponding square bases, and this happened in the last few weeks. This has got to be a sign that all the remaining surviving Fantasy plastics will be marketed for TOW as well as AoS!

This means at least part of my theory that GW will follow the Middle Earth model for TOW is true. However, another part of it remains ambiguous. Unlike Middle Earth, Warhammer Fantasy lost a huge amount of plastic kits and metal and Finecast character models during the AoS era, including two whole armies and most of three others. Will GW do the right thing and bring these kits back for a new wave of players to enjoy, or will they turn to the Dark Side and remake these models through Forge World?

Now you all may automatically assume the answer will be the latter, and I wouldn’t be surprised if GW resorted to the latter, but the reason I still see it as ambiguous is because the fact that GW re-released a load of Finecast Fantasy characters as part of their Made to Order scheme means they obviously didn’t cut up the moulds for the canned Fantasy models immediately after they discontinued them, and instead must have stored them away in some sort of archive (though of course all those models released through the Made to Order scheme have been cut up now). What’s more, as part of the reboot of Middle Earth GW brought back some Lord of the Rings units back permanently (Dunlendings spring to mind), meaning the chances of them bringing the plastics back are still a possibility.

However, I can see them putting all the other Finecast and metal models that were canned during AoS on Made to Order and ultimately getting rid of them, because of their new policy to eradicate all traces of Citadel Finecast. If this happens, then I can see GW making plastic equivalents of existing characters eradicated in this way, because they’ve been doing this for many key Lord of the Rings characters (Gandalf, Saruman, Treebeard, e.t.c)

This makes me happy and incredibly angry at the same time. Of course I'm really glad to see "my" old warhammer miniatures back on square bases but on the other hand I'm getting mad as this has been the easiest way from day 1 to satisfy AoS fans as well as WHFB fans. And it's almost free of cost.

They also brought back the old 5th edition metal skink command unit with the release of the 8th (or 7th?) edition army book. So there's definitely an archive of old moulds, which still does not guarantee that they will bring them back this way.

We can only hope that GW does so, as both from a player perspective and also a business perspective (it’s far cheaper to simply start reproducing existing plastic sets again than creating whole new Forge World moulds for the same unit) it is by far the best approach.

    Nope.

Lots of minis have been coming with both types of bases for years now. My Rat Ogor/Packmaster/Giant Rat boxes (bought over a year ago) all came with both. Blister packs from the Legends line (made to order stuff) from 5 years ago came with both. So did my Fellwater Troggoths (bought last summer). I think they just have some old stock lying around already packaged with both and we're still working through it, or they're just automatically packaged with them.

MIND YOU, I also hope that time proves me wrong!

Yeah, pretty much the former. Can't open most skaven or freeguild kits without realizing that they were pretty lazy with the re-packaging, and overall barely a step up from "yeah, we're just gonna sell you the old Fantasy kits with the square bases only, so you can buy the round bases separately" (this coincidentally was the story with my first 20 clanrats).

I guess it goes to show just how much they had in stock for Fantasy when they axed it for AoS.

I've been thinking of another deal breaker, too many updates!

Looking at AoS as an example, there is a never ending stream of new battle tomes, faqs, GHBs, etc. Everyone likes to get new things, but at some point, the game suffers in terms of a complete lack of stability. It feels like players do nothing but continually chase the meta. As soon as you paint a unit or assemble one unit, it has fallen out of favour and it is on to the next thing.

I suspect that I am probably in the minority in regards to this viewpoint, but there it is.
