    Hey everyone!

Got into painting AOS miniatures a few months ago during quarantine through a friend, and decided to pick up the Seraphon (due to a recent adoption of a leopard gecko) without knowing any of the lore beforehand. Since then I've more or less immersed myself into the hobby, reading lore, watching painting tutorials, and listening to podcasts. Currently building up a skink heavy army (as I find them cute!), have around 40 of them painted, plus terradons, a bastilladon, a starpriest, and a priest with a feather cloak. Still have chameleons, Kroak, an eternity warden, and 20 more skinks to paint. Next purchases will be a troglodon, a stegadon, and probably more terradons. Should keep me busy for the rest of the year!

Been lurking here for a couple of months, mainly in the painting section for inspiration, and the army lists for tips on how I should kit my skinks. Might throw my own painting blog in there too and see how it evolves over the year, being a complete beginner, would be cool to track my progress!

As an ice breaker, I would love to hear tips on how to speed up painting! I think I'm taking too long, averaging around 2 to 3 hours per model. This adds up when you're painting several dozen of skinks! Also, which model would you love to see updated and how? (I love the upcoming Underworlds warband)

Hey! Welcome to the Jungle! Always nice to see a lurker raise their head and start posting! :)

Your army sounds great. I'm a total newbie/neophyte when it comes to painting so can't help you there. A painting blog sounds great though! Take a look through the Painting subforum as there should be a lot of advice or at the very least a lot of helpful people ready to get your moving at speed.

    Enjoy!

    Welcome along!

You have got the Warhammer favor right there ;) Great collection off models.
40 Skinks painted is an achievement in itself.
I would love to see them :)

Batch painting might be a solution for larger units, pick one color and apply it to 5 or so models before changing to another color.

    Keep up the good work!

About updating models I, and many others with me, think of new Kroxigors and Salamanders for a start!

    Welcome to the pool!

As a slow painter I have found quite nice to paint 40 minis in on batch as I was forced to switch off the brain and make some easy paint. No speed. No rush. Just enjoying the progression. It was some kind of meditative experiment. You will not paint really faster but maybe you will not see the time passing by.
I have found to enjoy my painting time, I have to make things simple and because it's simple and enjoyable I go faster, for units anyway. For heroes I put the painting level a bit higher to challenge myself and enjoy it... and then as I enjoy it, I paint faster
    To sum up: Enjoy!

    Welcome aboard!
As said, in our painting subforum you can find helpful advices.
And for the lore, i suggest to find on ebay a second hand copy of our old whfb 8th manual. It's good to know where Seraphons come from. ;)

Certainly, here’s a pic from my spawning pool in my shelf.

I’ve tried to make a cohesive theme, and have a recipe for paint schemes I’ve been refining. My biggest time sink has been base coating details (like leather straps and the bone/claws), as they take multiple thin coats. Plus, with each coat there’s a chance you’ll get some where it’s not meant to be, so I then have to go back and fix mistakes. I recently got myself a wet palette to keep the paints from drying out and it’s definitely helped. Wish I did that earlier!

Most recently finished the Saurus guard, took me over a month to get them finished! Going to use February to assemble some more lizards as it won’t be undercoat weather for some time here in Berlin.

Definitely! Been watching a lot of 2+ Tough AOS lore videos while painting and he recommended the same. I’ll have to see if I can find a good lizardmen lore video to get started.

not an easy color scheme but nicely done! And you manage to hide a bastiladon behind a standard, what a prowess!!!
