Im new to 8th. Im still going through all the rules and i just wanted to clear something up. TG get a 5+ scaly skin but because they have halberds, they cannot use their shields in CC. Does this mean they only get a 5+ AS? Comparatively, a saurus block can use their shields in CC because they only have 1 handed weapons (6+ WS with HW/S) so they get a 5+ scaly skin and a shield making it 4+ AS and possibly a 6+ WS. Has TG lost points as an anvil?
Saurus Warriors only have 6+ scaly skin as well, for a total of 5+, while the Temple Guard have 3+ to shooting and 4+ in Close Combat.
Saurus have a 5+ scaly skin, for a 4+ save in combat, with a 6++ ward if they don't have spears, Temple guard have light armor and a 5+ scaly skin, for a 4 + in combat but a 3+ against shooting,
i dont have a book, but i heard that brb says that you have to use weapon you have so TG has to use halberds so you cant get bonus from shield when shooting becouse you still have a halberd. im am wrong? is there a rule that you can use a shield from shooting if you have a two handed wep?
This was actually worded better in 7th, but still holds true in 8th. You can have and use a shield, but it is assumed you drop it in combat.
Let's see,,,, the requires 2 hands special rule.,,, page 70 something, I think its74/75 Clearly says yup can use a shield against magic and shooting,,,,

is there a rule that lets you use shield when not cc? becouse now the rule states that you have to use special weapon if you have it, so you have to use halberds all the time, thus meaning no shield. everything would be ok if GW just write everything simply, but noooooo...
Page 88-- If a model carries a special close combat weapon he must fight with it in the close combat phase. (Emphasis mine.) So TG can use their shields against shooting attacks since it is not the close combat phase.
If memory serves the 7th edition cleary stated that using the Halbard required two hands and if the character used a shield, it had to be dropped or slung over the back or something. The 8th edition does not state this explicitely. Still, the fact that mini's can have a singlehanded and two handed weapon, as well as the overall filosophy that WFB is miniature driven suggests to me that you can use the shield against shooting. *warning - great minds think alike.
Am I invisible? Page 74 the " requires 2 hands" special rule, States you can use a shield against shooting even if armed with a 2 handed weapon
Temple Guard are solid in 8th edition. If you're worried about them in close combat bring Lore of Life.
It certainly looks that way. If I add that it wasn't meant personally, I only worsen it as well I suppos. On topic however, you reference clinches it: TG are allowed the protection of the shield when not in combat..
