That's awesome! Exciting development. I like it, this gives it more depth. I vote for some color, but not to much. Perhaps only the round details Grrr, Imrahil
Yeah, I think I'm going to add some rubies or something to a few of them round parts, like you were thinking, my partner said the same thing when I asked her lol so, two brilliant ppl saying the same thing, must be fate. Another fun development: Awhile back I had thought of putting something, a weapon, under the two side platforms of Tlanextic's howdah. Originally I was thinking of crafting a net of greenstuff and then forming little balls to act as Salamander/Troglodon corrosive liquid bombs (for lack of a better name) to hit things that got under the plat forms and away from skinks. Well, instead of bombs, im adding a Ark of Sotek on either side, snakes falling down on foes. I think it'll he awesome, also gonna add another support beam under the howdah connecting to the waist strap over the cloth. More to come, including other projects, eventually. Thunder Lizard seems to have drawn my attention atm And yes!!! Its very exciting! Might be able to finish the tail armor!
Building of support beams have begun I have been meaning to do this for a long time, but just haven't. Given the weight of these platforms they would most certainly need extra supprt beams. I am also planning on adding icons and other bits to these beams to give some extra flair/pop. I think a Thunder Lizard, if ever actually harnessed in lore, would be one of the most heavily decorated monsters in a Seraphon cohort, the Dread being on par or the closest. I want to represent that, but also not going to far with it. Many icons would no doubt dot the armor and structures built upon it. Also wanted to show the now three Skystreak bows instead of the original 2 that were planned. Now Tlanextic will have 2 facing forward and 1 in the back! Very exciting for sure I also love how small the Skink Priest is lol just imagining hwr marching into battle wiuld be awe inspiring and terrifying at the same time.
Thanks! More to definitely come, such as with this post I had a few suggestions on added supports, still debating which ill go with, but i am thinking the idea presented by Kithmali. The first idea was to do a suspension bridge like design that acts like a saddle. With supports branching out to the center of the platform. Kithmali's idea was a board inbetween the current and 2 more beams going up from the two beams now to the center of the platform. I at the moment have this idea dry fitted and I think I kay go with this over the other idea or combine the two ideas. Working in the dark as my gf is sleeping on the couch lol so i get to use my flash lol
Yes, this is a great Idea. For the suspension idea you had the cables need to be above the howdahs, in the same as the suspension bridge works. Therefore there has to be a pylon/pillar above the howdah to hang it from (I don't think that will esthetically appealing) I am stoked to see where you'll take it. Grrr, Imrahil
The suspension bridge idea was more about the frame than about cables and the actual brisge itself. It was more about how the frame would rest on the Thunder Lizard to offer more support, like a saddle. And yes, it is, Kith definitely had a good idea, I prefer this over the suspension bridge idea. I have lots of ideas, such as skulls hanging from the wood
Well, my original idea for Celennar and Teclis is a no go. I was originally planning to use a Troglodon head, however Celennar is a lot smaller than I anticipated, and the Troglodon head far too big. However, we solider on, and a solution was found: A Bastiladon head. I think it looks great and fairly natural, though a good amount of greenstuff is definitely needed. I really hate, loathe the Mask of Celennar, so I wanted something different... and here it is. Would love thoughts! Hope all is well!
Something different it is, pretty unique as well. I love it. Also wondering what colors you're having in mind. Grrr, Imrahil
Thanks! Definitely a unique feathered moon dragon, of sorts. As for scheme... no clue lol Ill be surfing through feathered dragon concept art again soon though! Yeah, really not sure
Not the best pictures, but here you can see the feathers added to Celennar. I was unsure at first, and thought maybe I made a mistake, but the feathers are growing on me. Definitely unique, and id say a little terrifying lol I still have some possible things to add, but we will see.
I have been in a bit of a building kick, this time I am focusing on a Hathorian kitbash, the Thunderhoof! So, this is the mock up, the head is blue tac'd on as I may still add more to it, such as another horn towards the nose. I am also still debating if I am going to add a rider or if this be a stand alone monster, like the Dread Saurian. If I do add a rider, I will likely put them on the base next to the Thunderhoof. For now, while im building and painting ill be putting the Thunderhoof progress in this blog, once finished I'll be adding it, a warscroll, and some homebrew for it. Would love thoughts!
A lot of good progress tonight with the Thunderhoof (which I think I may change the name, feels maybe too close to Mawtribes) and applying greenstuff to it with the final build (minus tail to be applied). Wanting to get a shaggier look, I started filling in all the bald spots I could find, and there were a lot lol. I also filled some gaps in the armor and other small cracks i noticed. I think in all it took me about 2ish hours to do what ive done, tomorrow ill look it over again and see if there is anything I missed. On top of that, I may or may not have started a bear chariot.... Better pictures to come tomorrow of thr greenstuff work after its cured and I wont accidentally muck it up lol I've almost flattened it a few times in a couple of areas haha. Just a fun project, really enjoying my new sculpting tools
Here are some better pictures, plus the tail added! I am just beyond pleased with how the fur came out! Aside from some spots I missed she's all ready to be primed
Thank you! I'm still kinda just staring at it, especially now with the gaps and such fixed. I am really trying to push myself with this homebrew project, definitely want it to be unique. Really aiming for an unofficial battletome, minus artwork (as I can't draw lol). As for the touch ups, I added fur around the tail, horn and a bit on her back where the shrine rests; after many checks i am certain i have everything (I hope). Still debating if anything needs adding (primarily thinking his shoulder armor, cant dexide if oarts seem bare) or if I am good to prime possibly tomorrow. Heres a picture of stuff added I will likely do the fur in a similar scheme as Parvat’Shakti, maybe a little more red-brown, the shrine... I have an idea but still debating. Leaning towards a green shrine like my Spirit of the Mountain and my Marbled Purple Quarz for the large stone with my birch cherry blossom trees
Making some good progress Although i still have work on the fur I decided to work on the armor a bit. At first I was going for a slate-blue color (pictured below) , and though it was nice and I liked it, it didn't really fit with the fur. So, after about an hour of debating I decided to go with my original gut feeling and switched to a jade/green scheme, I think it looks a lot better. I am still debating the mountains/crystal, but i think I kay do my Marbled Purple Quartz for the stone, as it is supposed to be a huge chunk of Aetherquartz given by the mountain. Any thoughts on the mountains, stone or anything else done so far is deeply appreciated! Thanks everyone! Hope everyone is doing well, happy hobbying!
Battletome: Sudsinabucket But actually, great work with the greenstuff. Texture looks like it'll seamless blend with the rest of the fur!
Haha, yesss! Battletome: Sudsinabucket indeed! It really did turn out great, with paint its just beautiful
