Finished the Necromantic Horrors team! They were a blast to paint and all the minis have so much individual character. Really loved painting orange, and how it looked alongside the greenish details and skin. The two Zombie bros : The skin is just a bone-colored paint with a green wash, splotching on a bit of purple wash in random places for skin discoloration. The Scarecrow, one of my favorites: The Ghoul: He was fun to paint, love his spiny back. Spoiler: scarecrow and ghoul backs The Werewolf, whose head turned out still too shiny after a matte wash The Ghost, easiest one of the bunch to paint: And the big monster himself, the Frankenstein! He took the longest to paint, but I had so much fun on the green skin. And putting red/purple washes on his exposed brains Spoiler: Frankenstein
Ran out of upload-a-file space, so here are the tokens! Loved painting that tombstone and the team token with the big, spooky pumpkin face. Frankenstein and the Frankenball Pumpkinball and the Pumpkin-heads Hope you like them! They will be a great away-team versus my Lizardmen
They look amazing! great colors. Can't wait to see them on your completed field Grrr, Imrahil Grrr, Imrahil
Progress on the Van Saar progresses slowly... Also decided these containers are done, just did a small highlight. Might do more later but they are done enough to toss in a game. Took some time today to use some red paint to make a gift for my daughter Spoiler: racecar Formula One, Toddler series: Sponsored by huggies Of course it is red, because the red ones go fasta
Some grots were assembled today to round out my orky-Kill Team. The chap with the rockets/junk on his back mwill be an ammo runt, the other will likely be the kill team leader!
Indeed, both are based on gnoblars and slightly altered to bring them into the 41st millenium with a healthy helping of rockets and a pistol from Necromunda. Still working those two, and went ahead and finished off my cluster of Ork Mekanik workshop terrain I had lying around. Nothing special, but it will give me extra clutter for future kill team games. In total I completed 14-ish pieces. The workshop itself now has a magnetized crane and orky-standard.
Used up the rest of my casting resin last weekend to manufacture some more scatter terrain (still WIP): Thanks! I am also thinking about the halflings, I love the taco/burger style footballs Also have a current update on the WIP status of the stadium: All the flock is glued on and has its first coat of paint to lock it into place. For all intents and purposes I could call it done, however the playing field still needs some drybrushing to lighten up the color and make it look less flat. The pitch can easily be played on now though, so I am looking forward to getting in some games at some point!
Thanks! Current status of the grots, ammo runt and the leader: Might revisit them later but they are good enough to play games with at this point.
Current status of the barrel terrain and the grots; also have my Cawdor gang basecoated/washed: They need a decent amount of work still, but I am happy with the progress. They are a mix of the cawdor set, Admech bits, and some bodies from Maelstrom's edge lost infantry. Gang leader in the center: Guy with the crossbow: When you can't afford new shoes because you spent your money on a robotic arm
It has been some time since I updated either of my painting logs! In between moving I got a few games of Kill Team and Necromunda in with my uncle last month, they were fun! This was probably my favorite Kill Team moment. I was playing my Alien Scum (Imperial Guard list with not enough plasma) and my uncle was running a bunch of Tau stealth suits and drones. He explained to me how "fly" works prior to the game started, but I didn't understand how it really worked until the second turn when his suits jumped INTO MY LINES! Needless to say, my alien/guardsmen didn't last much longer! The next few battles were Necromunda, and this time with a black cloth to make it easier to see everything: My uncle took his exquisitly painted Escher gangers, while I took my still-to-be-completely-finished Van Saar followed by my Cawdor/Admech in the second match. Spoiler Can't remember who won the first match, but my Cawdor flame-weapons won the second one for me. Our last few matches of Kill Team involved a custom-scenario, in which my Adeptus Mechanicus had "shot down" his Tau Commander Battlesuit prior to the mission starting. After the game started, he had to roll the dice each turn and see if his battlesuit "awakened." In the mean time his drones needed to defend their downed commander. Despite his commander's powerful weapons (he would delete any model he pointed at) I was able to defeat him during both iterations, thanks to my Vanguard's plasma calibers. All in all they were fun games, can't wait to paint more and play again next time.
Next project in the paint queue is some 40k Dark Eldar/Eldar. Plan is to finally make that Il Kaithe Craftworld army I have always had in the back of my head. But my uncle already collects 40K eldar, and I REALLY like Dark Eldar jetbikes... so the plan is to make a "fallen craftworld" army using Dark Eldar and Eldar models, Reaver jetbikes, and Eldar hover-tanks with lots of grisly trophies. Spoiler: color scheme tests Still messing around with these, but the main three colors will be Green, Purple, and Aqua/blue. I got these two tanks a while back for cheap, they will become a Raider transport and a Ravenger tank: First ten test Kabalites are done, mix of Eldar and Dark Eldar parts, all with helmets of course. And the jetbikes! Love these guys, so looking forward to painting them but I am even more excited for the tanks: After some customization: Spoiler: WIP eldar tank conversion I now have the first raider primed and ready to paint! It is all magnetized up to include the turret and the riders on the side: Here is a snapshot of how the infantry are shaping up so far:
I like the idea of this army! I love your sketches The conversions are great that Necron is very decorative I have some Dark Eldar Raider Crew on Sprue lying around. You can have those for your army if you like (just for postage costs) Grrr, Imrahil
Thanks! Happy with how the conversions have turned out so far, but I agree that Necron has seen better days. A bit more progress, basecoating is done for the 10-man kalabite unit and the transport: Time for some highlights next. Paint was a bit thick for the lighter green, hoping I can fix that too. I was thinking bone-colored for the weapons and gun pieces, but was concerned they might blend in too much with the skulls. I received the suggestion to make them black instead, maybe with some gold trim, still uncertain as of yet. Hey I might take you up on that! Send me a PM of what Dark Eldar bits you have lying around so I can take a look, didn't know you collected these guys too! Cheers all, really looking forward to my Archon conversion from the Fuegan model I have here up next too
