Hello Lustria Online! I’m not sure where to post this so General Chat it is! I’ve been out of the loop with my hobbies for a while now. Partly because of Covid, partly because of the demands of being a parent to 2 young kids, and partly due to work. Anyway it can be a bit of a downer when you realise over a year has passed and the things that bring joy have sat on a shelf getting dusty and the communities you’ve engaged with have all moved on. To rekindle the old spark I’ve been frequenting a lot of the websites and forums I used to lurk in. It’s somewhat worked, but what really has struck me is the dedication and passion of the long term forumites here. To me, this place is still a bastion of positive wargamers who actually ENJOY the game they’re invested in. AoS has moved on without me but I’m genuinely happy to see you guys still kicking. With any luck I might make some hobby progress in the coming months. Maybe not though. It doesn’t matter really - it’s just nice to know there’s somewhere I can browse to keep the embers burning without being drawn into some hate-spewing nonsense about top-tier tournament play and who’s “playing the game wrong”. Keep it up guys and gals. For the glory of the Old Ones!
I'm glad at least you can still wander the forum(s). As long as you keep your passion alive, there's hope that, sooner or later, you'll come back to the "real" hobby. As a parent of 2 daughters, i can relate.
Hello Fhanados, It is good to hear that we can provide some hobby stimulus by just being here I know your struggles and try to find my little pockets of time to hobby. If you don't set your goals to high (for instance per month) you might keep the fun in the game. Glad to see you are still around the forum though. Grrr, Imrahil
Welcome back to the forum and (as you may have guessed) you are always welcome here as a fellow lizard! Hoping to see some content from you on painting, fluff, battle reports or anything! (P.S. Are you an 8th gamer? )
Thanks everyone for the kind replies! It's nice to be lurking here again. @Lizards of Renown I haven't actually played Lizardmen/Seraphon since early 7th edition. I'd like to get into AoS using Seraphon (I have a few friends that play locally) but 40k is my main game.
If you're starting, I would implore you to ignore the travesty that AoS has made of our beloved game and go with eighth. Feel free to check out the rules, but there are enough Knights of Eight around the world that you can get a good game in. Also, see here. Not at all, one of the paramount purposes of the Knights is to save others from damnation
@Fhanados Thanks for the kind words, fellow lizard! This is indeed one of, if not the best online community I've had the pleasure of finding. I definitely know how it feels to be bogged down with life in general, but I'm glad that you decided to try and rekindle some of that enjoyment While I totally respect those who prefer WHFB to AoS, I've been playing AoS for almost two years now, and I'm really enjoying it. You should definitely give it a try! But if you can find a Fantasy gaming group, that's awesome too! Have you thought of giving Tabletop Simulator a try? It's really blown up over the last year due to so many people not being able to play in person. And while it's definitely no true substitute for your own models on a board, it's still really fun to play games with people online, and it allows you to test lists with models you don't have. But please, feel free to join the conversations in other areas of the forum, we'll be happy to have you!
