Very lovely! I like the contrast between the yellow and the blue. Gives them nice character

    SKINK STAR PRIEST GHOST/SUMMONED FORM
Took an inspiration from a dragon game I play and decided to make a 2 color painting challenge. Aside from Vallejo Heavy Blue and Vallejo Blue Violet only white and black paints were allowed to use resulting in a ton of fun for myself :)

    SAURUS
I plan to have a block of Saurus on foot dry-brushed, because its both faster and give that dirty-gritty feel of infantry life, so here a small WIP of how I want the scales to look like:

    Saurus_Drybrush_Scales.jpg

Base-coat is Vallejo Light Turquoise, then washed with Games Workshop Drakenhof Nightshade.
Dry-brushing comes instead of highlights and I wanted a quick and dirty zenithal highlight, so went with 3 layers:
    * 2x Vallejo Light Turquoise + 1x Vallejo Glacier Blue
    * 1x Vallejo Light Turquoise + 1x Vallejo Glacier Blue
    * 1x Vallejo Light Turquoise + 2x Vallejo Glacier Blue

KAPPACIUS NULL, THE ARCHMAGE TURNED INTO DRAGON
Small break from Lizardmen, being the lovely dragon miniature produced by a local resin printing workshop inspired by Bronze Dragons from Dungeons and Dragons and one of the dragon characters I play in the MMORPG called Istaria. Aspiring to return to his former glory and to become the greatest of dragon primalists (the Istarian way of calling a dragon magic caster), yet for now he is the caster... of memes ;)

    1_Plates_Stage1_TailWithAccents (3).jpeg

    BASECOAT / STAGE 1
Backplates are basically his desired "basecoat" or stage 1 highlights upon which I can work some more interesting effects. Recipe goes as follows so far:
    * Vallejo Sepia (ink, no dilution)
    * Vallejo Heavy Brown (layer almost all visible parts)
    * Vallejo Heavy Gold-Brown (layer most visible parts then few more layers on the edges and additional lines, it also needs a bit of Vallejo Retarder as it dries in 0.5s :D)

    1_Plates_Stage1_TailWithAccents (2).jpeg

    HORNS AND CLAWS
These are only treated with double-coat of heavy thinned mix of 1x Vallejo Red and 1x Vallejo Black and will work towards lighter bronze with one of the bronze paints + whites.

    1_Plates_Stage1_TailWithAccents (1).jpeg

    MEMBRANE ACCENTS
Experiment and may change later, but want to give the dragon blue-green / green accents on membranes and some of the scales and debating/trying out various paints. So far I know I need the membranes to be very light for these paints to shine. Current mix is:
    * layer of mix of 1x Vallejo Sick Green and 1x Vallejo Blue Green
    * layer of mix of 1x Vallejo Sick Green and 1x Vallejo Blue Green and 1x Vallejo Dead White (painted in random stripes to add texture)
    * layer of mix of 1x Vallejo Sick Green and 1x Vallejo Dead White (painted in even different random stripes to add texture)

This is a monumental project and C&C / tips are very welcome :D

    2_Wings.jpeg

Nothing like to finish the day with some crazy painted wings :)

    Golds were:
    * drybrush and glazes of Vallejo Heavy Goldbrown
    * drybrush of mix of 1x Vallejo Heavy Goldbrown + 1x Vallejo Deadwhite

    Blue-Greens were:
    * 2-3 layers of mix of 2x Vallejo Blue Green + 1x Vallejo Sick Green
    *
2 thin layers of mix of above + a bit of Vallejo Deadwhite (2:1:1 more or less)
    *
partially wash and feather with Games Workshop Biel-Tan Green
    *
re-highlight some part with the 2:1:1 mix again

It's been so long I couldn't find my own painting thread to finally post some slow, but sure progress on a drake, which takes forever due to mostly fighting with my own mistakes. However! Lots and lots was learned during the process and quite a few things are even muscle memory on my side.

    3_Front_AndClaws (2).jpeg

    CLAWS AND HORNS
I dug out my old recipe with Vallejo Mahogany Brown and Vallejo Bonewhite gradual mix layers where you paint lighter and lighter layer near the edges until you reach pure Vallejo Bonewhite with which you paint the fine lines in the end.
In extension to this there is a bit of fooling around with Games Workshop Agrax Earthshade, Reikland Fleshshade (horns only) and Seraphim Sepia.
Last one applied non-uniformly (use your clean brush grab the paint off the model for that!) to simulate some sort of discoloration.

    3_Front_AndClaws (1).jpeg

    VENTRAL WING MEMBRANES
These were... a horror to paint as I had to try and fail with multiple layers (10?) before getting the final effect with me in the end settling to:
    * undercoat with 1:1 mix of Vallejo Heavy Brown and Vallejo Orange (and i needed like 3-4 layers for this paint due to past mistakes)
    * wash 2 times with Games Workshop Seraphim Sepia
    *
drybrush with the Vallejo Sun Yellow (for the love of all don't use orange or you will cry!)
    * fix drybrush with undercoat layer and cry

Alternatively you can simply highlight with the Vallejo Sun Yellow which is what is done on the chest scales, but I wanted to do some dry-brushing and fail miserably so *shrugs*.

The greens are Vallejo Sick Green washed with Games Workshop Biel-Tan Green then slightly highlighted with the Vallejo Sick Green again. I may or may not come back to this part and give it more light if needed.

The mini is basically half way between D&D Bronze Dragon and a Dragon I designed in Istaria to find a fun color scheme. Hence the more fiery-orange plates on the chest instead of the blue-green ones and addition of emerald paws. Glad you like it, its a hell of a journey to paint :D.
