No, the "Braveheart Match" as I have dubbed it is this coming Friday. Will be super painful... Also painful was watching Germany lose to France... Not because I particularly like one more than the other, but because the ONLY goal was a pretty horrible own goal... I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
At this level of “ football ” (soccer) how often is there higher scoring game? I feel like I have good odds predicting a 1-0 game. So yes.
This is FOOTBALL (you know, a sport involving kicking ball about the field with your foot) as opposed to American NFL "Football" which would be better named HandEgg. As for scoring, so far in the Eurocup the scores have been: 3-0 1-1 1-0 3-0 1-0 3-1 3-2 2-0 2-1 0-0 3-0 1-0 1-0 2-0 3-0 So of the 15 games, we've had four 1-0 games and one 0-0 game. That means that two thirds of the games have finished with two more goals scored in it.
This genuinely made me laugh out loud. For real. It is an argument that I have been having with American friends and family (my dad is from the US) for my entire life. It never ceases to amaze me how A) there is a fixation on calling it football, no matter how many times I go over the fact that during the sport YOU HOLD, THROW and CATCH the ball. Kicking is about 1/10 of the sport (Charitably) and B) none of the people I have spoken to (literally not one) were aware that "Soccer" stands for "Association Football." On a separate note, I'm pleased to see you're following closely @NIGHTBRINGER. Are you a fan of the sport?
By far my favourite sport to play! @Mrs. NIGHTBRINGER loves it as well. In terms of watching, I usually only follow the EuroCup and World Cup. I don't watch a lot of sports, so I've never really gotten into following any of the club teams. Other than Barcelona (because of Messi), I don't have any club team that I cheer for. Which leagues to you follow? English Premier League I guess?
Great to see some excitement for the EuroCup. I love to follow it. As well as WorldCups. Much more fun than regular competitions. I do however keep track of the Dutch League 'Eredivisie' mostly by highlights. Grrr, Imrahil
Nice! Yes, obviously big deal in the UK. I haven't really played in ages, but when I did I was left back defense/sweeper (meaning someone who defends, gets ball back and then runs it back up the pitch.) Funnily enough, I also mainly tune in for Euro's and World Cup. Normally, your team I mostly determined by either where you live or who your family supports. My dad is a yank, so didn't support any teams. I'm kind of equi-distant between London and Brighton so no local Premiership team (there is a town team, but it is a total joke). In recent years, I've been "adopted" by a friend of mine so now I officially support Tottenham Hotspur. I'm not a very good fan, but I'm working on it. Always get excited about the national team though! Also, that level of football tends to be really skilled so is a joy to watch.
It's funny, many of the hardcore football fans I have spoken to, claim that club level football is of a higher quality. Personally, I've always found the Euro/World cup events to be the most interesting; it's easier for me to get behind national teams. The other issue for me is that all the truly great Football leagues are situated in Europe, so over here in North American we have to deal with time delays. Also, there are so many top level Football leagues (which one to choose??), which is stark contrast to sports such as Hockey, Basketball and Baseball which have a single league that is above the rest. I used to watch a lot of hockey, never could get into basketball and I absolutely can't stand baseball. Outside of Euro/World cup, the only sport I follow is MMA/UFC.
Yeah, well the clubs do better probably because they always play together so there is more tactics. I think if I'd been supporting a club my whole life I would feel different. Liking the MMA reference! The Premiership in England is widely acknowledged as the top club football league. I'd go with that. Because they buy foreign players (suppressing English football training... Grrrrr....) they have pretty international teams.
