I hope it's okay to post this and this is an appropriate place to post it. I'm a member of the Wild Cards Consortium, the group of writers led by George RR Martin who have, for over thirty years, produced the Wild Cards series of shared worlds books set in a world with super powered individuals and mutants (called jokers). On July 6th, the latest book in the series, Joker Moon, releases to all the usual places that sell books. For this this one, I wrote the "interstitial," the long "spine" of the book that connects and contextualizes all the other stories. In this case, I also came up with the concept for the book. It makes up about half the volume, is titled "With This House Secure," and I'm pretty proud of it. The book is designed so that newcomers to the series don't need to have read the previous (gulp!) TWENTY-FIVE to enjoy it. If you're interested, you'll usually find the Wild Cards books shelved with George's other books.
