Trick question, you can never have enough dinosaurs! However, we can not fit all of them in a single list while playing, and I am wondering right now, how many stegas are enough? Is there a sweet spot? See, I have three Celestial Stampedes, and I also have the chance to get yet another three, and considering thatwe can get both Linebreaker and Grand Battery battalions, are six stegas (and three basties) a good number, even for 3000 points? I will also magnetize my current units, but I don't know if adding at least another box is too much while having my dinos magnetized.
Chief+3-4 stegas should be enough for 2k. Add 1-2 for 3k and maybe eotg. You still want some screens and magic support too.
Thanks for the answer. Well, yes, Chief + 3-4 Steggies is 1365, so 635 remaining at 2000, and adding 2 and an EotG goes to 2160. That's eight models, and I have six. Uhm, I don't really know if this should be on Army List building instead, lmao. Why only one EotG, tho? too random? because two extra wounds and potential healing is quite useful, and if they are Priests, then they have a little more value.
As Christopher said they do not have the priest keyword, so do not get prayers. And the utility of two EOTG is limited because you only get to activate one during the shooting phase, and then can activate one again with Trove of the Old Ones (I think that's what it is called) for a command point in Thunder Lizard.
From a list perspective, I think 6 is the max that can optimally be put in an army. From a possession perspective, have as many as your heart's content is. I own 8 (not all built) and I feel like that's a good number. I too was able to get some Celestial Stampedes and some cheap Stegas.
That's the part I didn't understood. Both the spanish and english warscroll say "1 cosmic engine roll for 1 model", so the wording confuses me: you are only allowed to make one engine roll per phase, and not per model? I don't remember that being FAQ'd. Thanks again. I have problems with dino-plastic drugs!
The rule was put in place when Thunder Lizard could still use the second action command more than once in a turn. So even if you had just two EoTGs and used the command on both them, you would have had the possibility of bringing in 40 Saurus Warriors in a single turn, which is bonkers.
In all fairness, it does seem like it was specifically written this way to avoid prevent things like summoning 40 Warriors in a single turn, or tripling all your attacks (as ridiculously unlikely as that seems).
EotG getting Priest keyword is awesome! I already wanted to use it in most of my Thunder Lizard lists, and this just makes him even more useful.
Ah, I see you are a lizard of culture as well. Sadly, you can not field in matched games all the Stegadons in the world because pitiful things like "points". Currently I'm looking for at least 1 Skin Chief on Stega, 3 Steggies, and 2 EotGs, leaving me with 370 free for a 2000 pts game. So I can technically field 7 Steggas, but I shouldn't in a more serious game because I'm missing lots of everything else. Should I play 3000 pts games, I can technically deploy 11 Stegadons, but yet again, that would leave me even more vulnerable.
Well, i have 3 EotG and 3 Stegs (and 3 basti, for what matters). who knows, sooner or later i will be able to play them all
