As requested by our wise @Scalenex, this round i will take care of the Competition. I'm positive this will be just a momentary change, and soon he will come back to handle this. The theme for our 28th seasonal short story contest is upon us. The intriguing theme brought forth by the brilliant mind of @Lizards of Renown is "Parallel Dimensions" The Rules -We would like you to try to keep your story between 500 and 2000 words. I am requiring that entries do not exceed 2400 words. This is counting title, poems, quotes, any add-ons. If I get a submission that exceeds 2400 words, I will trim it till it meets the limit, and you may not like what words I choose to cut. Even prepositions are not safe... -Your name must appear nowhere with the story. There is no point in having an anonymous competition based on skill if we know whose entry is whose. -You must send your story via private message to me, Killer Angel, before noon (US Central time) on Sunday 31, october 2021 (if a writer will need more time, then I'll rearrange the schedule). -The story must be new. No dragging up a story you wrote months or years ago. -No plagiarism. This means no stealing a story verbatim. You are free to use characters or settings from other works including other writer's fluff pieces and past short story contest entries. -The story must involve Lizardmen (or Seraphon or Salamanders or Saurian Ancients), at least a little. -The story must stick roughly within the theme, at least a little. -No comics or illustrations. This is a short story contest. Visuals are limited to fonts and text colors. -Only one entry allowed per person. I will do my best to providing proofreading and general advise to writers who ask for it though real life is full of many challenges for me right now. If you wish me to provide a detailed edit, please try to get your draft to me as much before the deadline as possible (but given that i'm not a native speaker, consider yourself warned) You are welcome, nay encouraged, to ask anyone else you wish for help or advice. NOT Scalenex, as currently he's up to more urgent things. Once again, the winner of this contest has the honor of choosing the next contest theme if they so choose. If the winner does not give me a topic, I will pass this burden honor on to the runner-up. If you want to talk about the theme or your eagerness to write or read something. Please do so below!
[LoR bows] Grazie signore! I'm looking forwards to MASS CRAZINESS from all you authors out there! Don't let me down! It's a shame @Scalenex isn't around, I figured that he was already a shoe-in for winner on this kind of a theme. Maybe @Scolenex can enter as he's also pretty good with randomity?
I'm still here, I'm just playing a more casual role. I just don't have time to proofread pieces and field questions this month. I might even enter if I get my personal issues are wrapped up before the end of the month, it is a cool theme.
Is the theme basically 'crossovers' then? Well I guess magical ponies of friendship battling greater daemons of Chaos would be pretty nice to see imo
The Chaos Realm is a parallel dimension. Wherever the Lady of the Lake and all the Fae are from is a parallel dimension. Where ever the Old Ones chill and/or the other Warhammer gods. WHF has multiple realms where dead people go. In Age of Sigmar, it's hard to tell what is a "planet" and what is a "dimension." "Parallel dimensions" could be construed with "Parallel universes." In a metaphorical sense, nobles and commoners often lived in different universes. Earthly locations like the Under-Empire and the Night Goblins warrens are technically part of the Warhammer world but they are so different they might as well be parallel dimensions. That said, I wouldn't mind seeing some magical ponies wailing on Bloodletters of Khorne.
Very Interesting theme well picked @Lizards of Renown . I have a small idea already, but have to see how I can work it into a story, lets go!!! Grrr, Imrahil
Well when you put it like that, an idea i've been thinking of before the contest was announced seems like a perfect fit now even though I thought it wouldn't. Thanks
Idea is starting to take shape even more, time to wreck it with writing the actual story Grrr, Imrahil
A good chunk of the story is written down already. This is so unlike me. I am getting close to the 500 words mark, lets see how it will end up Grrr, Imrahil
Bah. Completely out of character, I haven't even started writing mine... I don't even have a finalized idea...
