With Orctober upon us I will be focusing on my W'adrhŭn from Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings. So I will be absent from this blog for the month, but please join me over at my Conquest blog here on LO to join me for Orctober! https://www.lustria-online.com/thre...f-conquest-the-last-arguments-of-kings.25771/ I also have a small writing blog for their homebrew if anyone is interested:
Hey everyone! Orctober / W'adrhŭntober went great and I'll be updating my Conquest blog soon, but I wanted to share what I've been working on the past 2 days. I finally decided to suck it up and do some greenstuff work on Ti'lanka, my Mammoth Giant (or whatever I'm calling him lol). I had stopped because doing the greenstuff work around the arms and neck was looking like it was going to be a pain, it was. However, with a lot of work I was able to do the fur work pretty well around the arms and harder to reach areas. Ti'lanka definitely looks like a bipedal Mammoth being to me, my question however is if I need to bulk up his legs a bit more. I personally love how he looks now, but I also can't decide if his legs feel a bit skinny. One thing I love about him is that when not being used for my Hathorians he can also be used as a Ghorgon or Cygor. All in all I'm very happy with the progress, just need to do a last look over tomorrow. Any C&C welcome!
Heck Yeah!!! Awesome!!! The fur is so cool His legs are looking fine to me, he is just well trained Keep up the great work! Grrr, Imrahil
The legs might be a tad on the thin side, but not so much that it looks weird to me. I really like that model an cannot wait to see it painted.
As always, I love your work Suds. If you're asking the question, the physics of the super long tusks is a bit off considering the size of the neck and body. Maybe they are hollow? Or not very dense? I didn't think about it until you asked though.
Thanks man! It was great to finally get his greenstuff work done, he looks much more complete now lol I am still debating if I should go over his original plastic fur to give it a total same look feel, but will probably keep it as is. I certainly will try!
Indeed, this is how I feel about them also. I can see they are maybe a tad thin, but not so much that I feel they need to be bulked up. However, I can also see that they could look good bulked up, but can't decide if it actually worth the extra work or not, or if it'll just look completely off to me once done. I dig it how it is, so will probably just keep it how it is. He's not completely Mammoth... he does have cloven hooves.... Thank you! I really dig him also, glad to finally have a point where I can consider priming him and even starting him. Though, I have 1 or two bits to add on still, such as a trigger-type thing for the mini crossbow and possibly a quiver...
I just always thought of them made with super light but durable natural material, to offset the ridiculous size; I could see them being hollow. But yeah, definitely not the first to mention how big they are and the size of his neck and such. I appreciate the thought! Thank you Much appreciated!
A little base color work this morning for this big hairy dude. With color showing the fur better, I am absolutely thrilled with how most of the greenstuff came out. Those parts that I'm meh about don't stick out too bad, so I'm not kicking myself too hard lol. I did miss some clean up on the weapon, but it'll be fine. I'm real excited to see how he turns out. I am thinking gold for the handle/shaft of the weapon with a blue blade and purple-blue flames... but undecided. Need to also consider what I'll be doing for his base...
Thanks man! I ended up adding fur just above/over the hooves, which i think helped the legs look less thin.
Thanks man! Right? It's looking real good I think so far for sure, needs more washes and dry brushing, but definitely getting there
Sneak peak at progress so far! Fur is coming along, and added color to the tusks to bring the fur out more against it, love how its coming out. For the metal bits in the tusks I am thinking of turning them into gems instead. Definitely more to go! I am considering a Beasts of Chaos backstory for this guy as some leader due to his heightened intelligence.
Small update: Fur work isnt done, but i wanted to fiddle with the weapon a bit. Originally I was thinking a gold handle leading up to a blue magically energized blade of sorts... but I'm kinda cleaning back towards maybe just an Obsidian blade with flame. I don't know if its the contrast or what, but the blue isn't totally sitting with me, maybe just not the right color to be against the fur? Thoughts are appreciated, especially on the blade!
