Working on banner bearers for both Battle Companies for a custom scenario me and my brother are working on. Grrr, Imrahil
Another Easterling Kataphract done: This represents a captain of the Easterlings on Armoured horse. Grrr, Imrahil
The Battle Between Men - part 5 Yesterday was game night (again). We settled on the scenario 'Show of Strength', this one is pretty straight forward: which ever Battle company leader makes the most kills wins the scenario. The scenario ends at the end of the turn in which one of the companies is quartered. Our set up: During the first two turns there was no hand-to-hand combat only shooting, resulting in one of the Easterling heroes being shot and getting saved by his fate roll. Third turn saw more action. The Easterlings gained priority. I called a heroic move to arrange the fights. My horse charged the hero Archer claiming the kill. My Leader got his first kill i the books. The Leader of my brother's Easterlings retalliated with a kill as well. In the next turn the troups start to dance around eachother. My brother pinned a warrior in places with his Leader but wasn't able to kill him. He managed to kill my knight though. In turn five my archers finally arrived at the scene to throw the numbers to my side. I manage to kill his Leader and another warrior. In the last turn I spent my last point of might to move first and trap the last of the Easterlings. My Leader kills one of them resulting in a victory for Minas Tirith with a score of 2 - 1. Aftermath: there was a lot to do in the aftermath. All the Easterlings needed to roll for injuries resulting in 2 warriors missing next game, a hero gainig a leg wound and a hero lost in battle. A warrior was able to promote to Black Dragon and one became a hero. On my side an Archer got promoted to Ranger of Gondor and my Leader bought himself a horse. Grrr, Imrahil
Testplay custom scenario For the second scenario we decided to playtest our custom scenario. It was a lot of fun and the dice were much more in favor of my brother We got in some situations which we did not account for in the scenario description. We have to adjust some bits. All in all a very fun play and lessons learned. Grrr, Imrahil
Thanks a lot I make it my goal to create a good ambiance to fight in The Scenario is a good old "Capture the Flag" the Object marker marking the spot a lost banner can be found. If it is reached the model gains the banner (infantry only) when losing a fight the banner is dropped and can be picked up by the enemy. When the banner is in possession of one Battle Company for 4 consecutive turns (not counting the turn it is picked up in) the game is won. Sadly the object marker and both banner bearers weren't completely done before game night, but we decided to playtest anyways. Next time, after adjustments, we will play it for the campaign. I started work on the conversion of Minas Tirith warrior with bow to Ranger of Gondor. Followed the same steps as before. Opted for a hoodie this time: Grrr, Imrahil
I take it you're not going to play the SBG proper? Otherwise you could have just bought some of the plastic Rangers:
Come, let's compare piles! In mine, I have the following still to build: 10 Black Orcs 10 Eternal Guard that I'm using to make a High Elf unit (probably White Lions, with the Wildwood Ranger Great Weapons and Eternal Guard heads) 10 Ironbreakers 10 Ungor Raiders Cygor/Ghorgon 10 Greek Hoplites for SPQR 16 Caesarian Roman Legionaries for SPQR 2 plastic Mordor Orc models with parts missing that I'm converting into Captains to try and get closer to complying with the Warband format I'm going to attempt to try and make 3 more Space Marine Devastators out of spare parts to go with 2 I made way back in my blog 10 Chainrasps and 3 Sequitors that came with Mortal Realms which I'm struggling to think of a use for (definitely not interested in starting Nighthaunt or Stormcast for AoS) Beat that!
Lol, ok. We are going only still to build: - Skink Starpriest - Slann Starmaster - around 40 Saurus Warriors - full SCB skinks - full SCB skaven pestilence - near full SCE side of the Blightwars box set - full SCE side of the Soul wars starters box - Ironjawz Bawla & Burk, Bossen Rat-killas - Ironjawz Morguk's Krushas - 7 warriors of Numenor - 8 warriors of Rivendell with bow - 4 warriors of Rivendell - 4 warriors of Rivendell with spear and shield - Captain of Rivendell - Warrior of Rivendell with banner - 1 Rivendell Knight - 2 Rivendell Knights, rider only - Glorfindel - Erestor - Captain of Minas Tirith - Knight of the White Tower - Warrior of Minas Tirith with War horn - Gondor Battlecry Trebuchet - 2 Easterling Kataphracts - 4 Easterling Warriors with shield - 4 Easterling Warriors with bow - Easterling Warrior with pike and shield - Easterling Captain - Easterling Dragon knight - Warg Chieftain - 12 Warg riders. This is what I can think of while at work at the moment Grrr, Imrahil
And I thought my hobby-purchasing habit was bad... What are the Stormcast for? You planning to start Sigmarines or are they a commission?
Well, I might... No, I am joking. They are leftovers lying around to eventually be sold or swept with something I really do want to have Grrr, Imrahil
I finished the banner bearer for my brother's Easterling army. This is a conversion made of the 'left over' parts from converting the Archer Kataphrakt. The lower half is from the Warrior with bow and the upper half from the drummer on Kataphrakt. I cut his right arm off and relaced it with the banner arm from the same set. I cut his left arm at the elbow and turned the arm around to reach in front of him. At last he was handed a shield like hhis mounted counterpart has as well. Grrr, Imrahil
