Many eliminators are now all complete! Nine new eliminators in total split between two different squads. Squad #1 is under the leadership of Sergeant Maulgrian of the Blood Ravens: Super happy with the tiny details on his binoculars, and the transfer on his kneepad looks great too. Brother Oniwaban of the Koi Chapter: Brother Dorgon Ru of the Azure Dragons: Azure Dragons chapter symbol, which is based on the Qing Dynasty heraldry. Brother Hadrian of the Sons of Orar: Good use of an Ultramarine transfer. Brother Plissken of the Black Vipers: Here is the whole squad!
The second squad of eliminators are all Dark Angels successors: Brother Dors of the Penitent Blades: Unlike most of the heraldry for this project, for this guy and the next one I just went ahead and painted it on. Brother Nadarte of the Guardians of the Covenant: Brother Vastor of the Angels of Absolution: Brother Batariel of the Angels of Vengeance: Now that all ten (plus one extra) eliminators I have the second-half of two Spectrus Kill Teams complete. Need to do a lot of work on the infiltrators next but I am looking forward to completing them too.
You have done such a good job on them. The Black and Brown work very good together. And as always outstanding heraldry Grrr, Imrahil
@Warden these paint jobs are SERIOUSLY awesome. You should be really proud. I particularly love the various Space Marine Chapters. Have you invented some of these? Or are they all existing chapters?
Thanks! Most are from the 40k universe, but two of these eliminators are fan-made: The Koi are a chapter I created with lore inspired by samurai from Sengoku Japan with a fragmented color scheme reminiscent of their namesake. The Azure Dragons were created by Top Miniatures, and are based color scheme and assumed lore off of the Qing Dynasty Banner Armies.
Work continues on my second dreadnought: Took two months but his close combat arm is finally here so I can finally finish him. Also got the base colors down on my phobos captain! He looks good, debating on making a sashimono? Helix adepts coming next!
@Egres 's great work on his Space Rangers has inspired me to finish painting my white armored helix-adepts; so now I have three combat medics ready for duty! Brother Gunthem of the Excoriators chapter: The heraldry of this (canon) chapter is the red fist clenching lightning bolts, befitting descendants of Dorn and the Imperial Fists. Brother Zuul of the Star Phantoms: Star Phantoms have a symbol depicting two skulls arranged as an hourglass: And my favorite of the group, Brother Paulos of the Storm Lords: Skull with red lightning bolts: Spoiler
Two more photos showing off my three phobos helix-adepts and my previously painted phobos apothecary! Painting white armor is a nice break from black but it is HARD! As an aside, Brother Zuul technically started out as Sister Zuul... but my painting did NOT flatter the miniatures head Part of me wants to go back and fix it but I am pretty sure I will make it worse. Aside from thinner layers, I noticed the following issues I could fix: Darker shadows under the eyebrows to emphasize the eye cavity Too much of a highlight on the nose caused it to become to broad, and less pointed than the original head. I super accentuated the jawline on the model, I think that is the #1 reason the head reads as masculine. More shadows below the cheekbones could have helped this I think Not sure what I could have done for the mouth, maybe not highlight the top layer of teeth. I am happy with how I highlighted the scar on the face at least, so that was a good learning point
what !! me inspiring someone that’s a first!!! Hehehehe wasn’t expecting that hehehehehe glad I was inspiring!!! Hehehehe looking good!!
June is busy, but as every good army needs communication to succeed... I have finished my communications specialists! To help them stand out, these phobos comms specialists were painted with orange arms harkening back to the watch fortress's patron forgeworld Ryza. Battle Brother Sinod of the Crimson Scythes: Spoiler: Crimson Scythe chapter heraldry Chapter heraldry, made with a transfer: Battle Brother Al Mawt of the Storm Falcons: Spoiler: Storm Falcons chapter heraldry This awesome Egyptian-inspired chapter comes from user Mortarion from Bolter and Chainsword. Battle Sister Antiope of the Angels of Vigilance: Spoiler: Angels of Vigilance chapter heraldry Considering that the previous dark angel for this squad was supposed to be a female (but my painting ability betreayed me) I decided that this one could take up the mantle instead. Plus I like the name Antiope, which is inspired by a greek amazon. Chapter heraldry is another transfer, but this one I printed myself: Entire batch of phobos specialists:
Finished a phobos incursor with some inspiration from a long-lost human nation: Brother Bedovard Dragon-hewer of the Knights Unyielding Unlike many other space-marine chapters, battle-brothers of the Knights Unyielding wear their own personal heraldry on their shoulderpads instead of a chapter symbol. Heraldry is all old Bretonnia transfers I never used! Spoiler: moar pictures Had fun painting this guy for obvious reasons I was inspired to make this marine after reviewing this blog.
A few more marines in progress, to include this sergeant from the Invaders chapter: He is a phobos infiltrator sporting a custom xenotech weapon. Spoiler Two more are WIP:
Great work! The forces are growing! I like his visor. The skin color on the last one (on the right) looks amazing Grrr, Imrahil
Thanks, just finished those two phobos infiltrators this evening: Sister Xenia of the White Minotaurs: Much more success with the female heads this time. White Minotaurs heraldry: Spoiler ...and Brother Venk of the Vorpal Swords: Vorpal Swords heraldry: Not as much success with the heraldry for this guy, but its late and for now I am calling it done. Spoiler
In a surprise turn of events, I stayed up late last night and decided to finish off my Necromunda sniper for my Palanite Enforcers! Starting this model I was not planning to make her a red-head, but when I put on the undercoat for the hair it looked to good not to try it! Camo-cloak is just sculpted from miliput, while her head is from the same batch as a few of the marines. I think it makes her head a bit out of scale though, but thats mostly covered up by her cloak's collar. She has her helmet on her hip too. It always surprises me how large space marine primaris are in comparison to "normal" human 40k or Necromunda models. Here is one of the eliminators I painted next to her: And versus one of her squadmates:
Finished a few more subjugators for Necromunda last week: While the kit only comes with six bodies (including the two I already painted) I was able to get a few extra subjugators out of the box with some blood bowl human models my brother didn't have a use for. With the heads/extra weapons they blend in really well! Spoiler: Palanite Subjugators These first two are magnetized to have options for both the shock stave and grenade launcher:
