Thank you man, I think we both know me and my track record with big models lol! Lets see if I get to 80% and can get to the finish or something else catches my ADHD LOL Bastiladon still has a first grasp on my attention though, so, Seraphon/Lizardmen for now!
My Lord Regents beast also got new horns! So, its time to officially build and prime it and hopefully paint soon. The lord Regent is jesrly done itself
So, its not finished, but I am super pleased to show the fully built engine ontop of the Bastiladon. I am looking for any input on the model, Bastiladon, Engine, or both at this current stage. I know that the feet still have work to be done on them, and teeth need a wash or two, but anything else I am wanting to hear. So let me know what you think! Thanks, just wanna make it as good as it can be
Quite a few different things here Began my Storm Mage, giving the stormcloud he rides some lightning. I am thinking of trading out his fan for a feather or a feathered fan to represent Thunder Bird feathers. I have also glued the (new) horns and armor bit onto my Lord Regents mount, after a little more GS work I'll be able to prime it, which is exciting! And yet more building after that as I glued the lightning & armor bits onto Aella. I am still figuring a few things out for her (feels like she needs something... horns? A tad more armor? Cant quite place it...) but I did find the color scheme im going to use (pictured). I wanted a stormy scheme - and that is exactly what I've been looking for. I also have some Thunder Bird art I'll be using as inspiration. Last but not least the Bastiladon next to the Amargadon and a Skink, just because. Still have a little more work on the basti and then the base.
Well, fudge. That looks absolutely amazing. Can't wait to see the lightning effects you're going to do.
When @Lizards of Renown breaks out the, "Well, Fudge", I know I've done something good. Thank you! I actually just finished the really tedious feather details, which I did using Baharroth Blue to represent lightning coursing through her feathers!
Said Video of Feather work - though may be a little hard to see? I'm on my phone so might be better on a computer. Really excited about this, if ya can't tell lol https://twitter.com/SinaraiP/status/1564301950820179970?s=20&t=lnWHIfvLbMruz0llpCiQ3w
Lore post and small picture! Aella, or “The Whirlwind” by some, is the sixth Wind Spirit of Hysh and is the Wind spirit of Storms. She takes the form of a giant Thunder Bird, the Spirit of Storms's favorite creature to travel her gales. Brought to form by not a helmet but two pieces of ancient wing armor that once were once worn by the Legendary Thunder Bird Galeari the Swift. Before the beginning of the Age of Chaos and the Spirefall Roosts of Thunder Birds were found throughout the four Great Nations of Iliatha, Helon, Oultrai, and Ymetrica. These gigantic intelligent birds generate lightning through their wings and are able to exhale it like a Star Dragon's flame, the flap of their wings sounds like that of thunder. Always heralded the coming of the strongest storms, the roosts riding upon the gales of the Wind Spirit of Storms, Aella the Sixth Wind Spirit of Hysh. As the realms became under threat from the armies of Chaos the fate of Hysh soon followed the same fate as those before. As the lands and skies became filled with Daemons and their followers the Roosts of the Thunder Birds came to the aid of the Lumineth and the Realm at large, though in vain. With the Lumineth not only being crushed by Chaos but by their own civil war, great losses beset the roosts as allies turned foe without warning, and daemon and corrupt Lumineth began hunting the giant birds down. The Spirit of Storms lent her fury and aid where she was able to manifest strongest, however not able to manifest it was not as effective as was needed. In the last retreat for one of the last roosts of Thunder Birds, the oldest and largest of their kind fell back to stay with the fury of daemons that chased her roost. Galeari the Swift with her powerful currents of lightning took out thousands of foes before finally a mighty Bloodthirster of Khorne struck her down. As the mighty bird's body fell from the sky winds began to pick up, and before Galeri hit the ground a current of wind and cloud landed her gently below. In the moment of seeing an old friend of the skies and storms fall, the Wind Spirit Aella found the focus she needed to manifest fully. Rage and sadness that she clung to the sky soon turned black, then green, then purple, and a loud whistle that turned almost a scream began to be heard - as if it were in one place and then another. Hail and lightning began to strike feverishly everywhere, thunder so loud it burst eardrums of those below, so large the stone of ice they cracked open skulls of mortals. Soon gales stronger than any recorded within the realm began to pick up, and from the sky, the make of a giant Thunder Bird created by storm clouds emerged. With the sound of a wind’s scream Chain Lightning burst down to the ground as the enraged wind spirit passed by. The lightning cracked it open as it struck, all that was left in its wake was of gore and gristle from those unfortunate to be hit. The Spirit of Storms unleashed a storm so powerful that the trees that survived are still bent nearly sideways, and the land is just now beginning to recover from the lightning bursts and fires that engulfed the area. The giant Thunder Birds body was carried off, including the giant wing armor that was crafted by Lumineth, after the massacre, never to be seen again. Lost to legends, the wing armor that Galeari wore was said to create a beautiful sound as she flew as the wind crossed over the armor, a sound that Aella was drawn to for its beautiful melody. The location of Galeari the Swift’s body was heavily guarded for centuries as the Age of Chaos raged on and the Thunder Birds fled to the highest Floating Islands amongst the Clouds in Hysh, though some left to Ghur and Ghyran. Only known by the remaining Roosts and Aella the Spirit of Storms, it wasn’t until the Wind Mage Aledrec Galeari that a Lumineth was entrusted with the location of the burial ground of the Ancient Thunder Bird and her famed armor. Given the Armor by the Roost which guarded the site, Aledrec was able to complete his supplication to Aella by earning the trust of the Thunder Bird Roost and therefore making a bridge back between the two races.
I love how you, seemingly effortless, come up with these great pieces of lore for your creations. Lol, I had the same thing Grrr, Imrahil
I'm in love with that crazy Bastilodon. Working backwards from your newest posts and really digging your work! It's super inspiring!
Thank you, that means a lot man, I really love (as you know) having a story for like every major thing i make lol This story took a few days for a prompt to really come to me. I was thinking of the Spirefall and a passage about how the wind spirits essentially had to watch as Hysh burned because they couldn't focus their energy enough to manifest, essentially. So thinking of that and a big incursion of chaos with a retreat kinda kindled this lore bit!
Thank you! Very kind and I am flattered my work can inspire! I'm glad you liked it! I need to finish the base still, but man oh man do I love it lol I hope you enjoy the rest, I really enjoyed your post I saw and looking forward to seeing you helps your friend out!
Progress! Going to work on her more tonight, but wanted to share the most recent Progress. Lots of work on the wings as I begin to rehighlight certain parts of the feathers with Baharroth Blue again & Dry brush with the original colors to bring them back out (Russ Grey, Thunderhawk Blue, and Dark Reaper), though I did not dry brush Xereus Purple again, i swapped for Russ Grey (felt the purple was too strong after the washes). The lightning I did base colors of Corax White (took foreeeevvvvverrrrr) last night and then did Aethermatic Blue today. Planning a dry brush of White Scar & Baharroth Blue next for it and then a very light Aethermatic Blue maybe? Debating the base still - probably just a field though with some flowers. We'll see.
