I still have all my old 7th and 8th Edition Fantasy and 5th and 6th 40K books, they are not worthless to me because I can still get a few games in with a few people I know, those great souls who join me in forming the Old Guard from GW's illustrious past.

There may well still be AoS players out there with a similar philosophy, who prefer to play 2nd Edition as it was before the trainwrecks that were the pointless 2nd Slaanesh and Lumineth books and Broken Games Realms caused that Edition to drop into deep doody. Perhaps there are those who gave up on constantly updating General's Handbooks and the pointless extra added bureaucracy added to 3rd Edition despite the inability to play at GW to keep on playing that previous edition at the height of its glory. After all, there's no hard and fast law stating everyone has to get rid of their old Warhammer books once a new edition arrives.

If you're not fond of constantly updating to new books and new Editions anymore, it may be worth you starting just such a revolution. Perhaps a 2nd Edition fan club thread on this very forum may be the way to go?

I agree that is daft, all models in the unit should retain the same facing. Something to consider for 4th Edition perhaps?

O sure, individual groups can still get some value out if they want to stick with older editions, I meant more that within the current edition, old tomes are immeadiatly worthless. So if you want to play at your LGS or at a tournament you have no choice but to update. And thus GW doesn't really need to encourage it with special sales or anything. Which probably goes a long way to explain why GW bascily doesn't do sales of any sort.

Same facing can still create some daft situations.

Like a charge that goes from this
    upload_2022-9-14_16-0-42.png
    to this:
    upload_2022-9-14_16-0-35.png
    With the arrows indicating facing.

Which is still a rather silly to do.

It also isn't even the only daft movement based shenenigans you can get up to, so simply fixing facing won't really solve a whole lot. But that's kind of the consequence of a high degree of freedom, you get lots of weird edge-cases that don't make a whole lot of sense in terms of realism, even if they can be very clever manouvres in the context of the rules of the game.

Most of the the 8th edition WFB army books sell for above their GW retail price on Ebay. I've seen some go for as high as 2X the price.

Indeed they are my friend. A little bit too valuable as I need two more army books to finish my collection (and one of the ones I'm missing is on the higher side of costliness).

I'm also missing Monstrous Arcanum, but I've completely given up on that one because it regularly sells for $250-$300. I don't need it that much, but I do eventually want to pick up the last two army books. The price might come down a bit if ToW is a hit or maybe I can just stumble across a lucky find.

Ugh, don't remind me. There is a reason I don't have the armybook I need to run Orcs and Goblins in 8th edition, rendering my collection of Old World minis unplayable at the moment...

And a studio painter has proven it's possible to give Votann models heads from other Dwarf kits:

you've missed several earlier complaints I made about the more traditionally dwarvish league of votan stuff, you're going to need a few extra pages :p

A new Tzeentch start collecting box is apparently coming alongside the tome. Which of course, contains Tzaangor.
Why does every single tzeentch box contain Tzaangor.

Probably because GW believes that you absolutely need to have birds on the brain to play a Tzeentch army.

I wish they'd at least introduce some new Tzaangor. Idunno, give a unit of Tzaangor on burning chariots or something.
As it stands you basicly only have two units: Tzaangor on foot. And Tzaangor on discs (Enlightened and skyfires are really just different loadouts.. Like Kurnoth hunters). And it's not like the tzaangor on discs are even that different from the foot Tzaangor.

In general though, the mortal side of Tzeentch is rather underdeveloped. Given what they did with Slaanesh it is such a shame.

Yeah, I'm not entirely sold on it either. Granted, outside of Skaven, Grand Alliance Chaos has consistently been a mish-mash of beastmen, mortals, and daemons that more readily form coalition armies with each other than even Cities of Sigmar can accomplish, which leads me to believe that the actual intent is for you to take units from other Chaos factions and give them the [INSERT CHAOS DEITY HERE] keyword to run them unimpeded as part of your army.

Not saying it's a good way to build a flavorful army that isn't mere unit spam, but it's the one we're presented with.

Even that approach doesn't really work as there's no real synergy across the armies as your chaos lord can't buff your Kairic acolytes, and similarly, your LoC has basicly nothing to offer the chaos warriors.

Because Tzaangors are more interesting than either Kairic Acolytes or Horrors.

I'm personally more annoyed that there are a load of Acolytes and Daemons in what could have been a really nice Tzaangor army starter.

At least Tzeentch has 4 different types of demons that are actually distinct both visually and in terms of rules with Screamers, Horrors, Flamers & chariots. Plus, the different levels within lesser demons and their big brothers are even relativly distinct.

With Tzaangor all we get is Tzaangor on foot or Tzaangor on a disc. With some minute differences in their weaponry and that's it. They don't even wear different armours. Hell, even their poses are relativly similar despite being mounted.

I'd be fine with the focus on Tzaangor it if they'd actually did something with them instead of just putting the same unit in every single box.

...Okay, first off because GW made them and is trying to SELL THEM. Second, because Tzaangor are actually decently killy units. Third, because they are trying to SELL THEM, and except for people with Disciples or the occasional TS player, people aren't buying them. They're in Beasts, but they aren't 100% synergistic with the rest of the Beasts of Chaos army and have limited tactical use in that. Fourth, seriously, why not? Though it would be nice to get a Tzaangor melee hero, maybe some Tzaangor with polearms or something?
