Hi all I'm new to AOS and have 6 games under my belt with 1 win which I really didn't deserve. I'm here for any advice I can get on playing better. I've got a good club near me with people playing who are patient with me. Unfortunately they are all way better than me and kick my ass. So far I've got: 1 Slann 2 Starpriest 1 skink starsteer 2 Priest 3 Bastiladons (2 as solar engine, 1 not made yet) 1 EOTG, 1 Steagdon with skink chief 1 Carnosaur 40 Skinks 40 Warriors 15 Guard 15 Knights 3 Terradons I came into the game via painting and 3d modelling/printing. Thought if I'm painting all these models I should play the game too. I love the concept of the game but I really struggle to remember the rules. Thanks for allowing me to join in the fun.
Welcome along! This is incredible for you and very essential for starters in the game. Great to have this supportive community around you. Most time you learn more from losing a game than from winning your days of kicking ass will come, I am sure. If you would like to share your models, paintjobs and wip's you can start a painting blog. Tactic threads plenty to dig around in. Have fun and ask around if you have any questions Grrr, !marhil
Thanks everyone. I don't mind losing and I expect to but I do get annoyed at myself for for getting to do certain things and for blocking myself in. It's all good learning and I enjoy playing all the different army's and finding out new ways in which they can beat me. My biggest issue at the moment is not using the priest and star priest enough to buff up my army. Even with aos reminders.
Welcome to Jurassic Park! Enjoy the forum! (Sorry, can’t help with AoS gaming. I exclusively play Warhammer Fantasy 8th edition)
Welcome to the party, and nice to meet you!!! You have a spectacularly broad collection of models already! That helps with the flexibility when finding your playstyle. A couple of questions to start out. What Constellation have you been running? Do you play with the same list for at least 3-4 games before shaking it up? What are generally the biggest problems that you notice in your games? Some constellations are easier than others to start with. Because of the random factors to games (RNG, facing different armies) you don't really get a good feel for how to run a list until you've put it through the paces a few times. It can be hard to put your finger on what is or isn't working with your list, or decisions you make throughout your games. Try to get a dialog going with your opponents after each game. Talk about what plans worked or didn't. Talk about what worried you the most from the other side of the table. This is more of a tournament prep habit than anything else for me, but it fosters good sportsmanship and better gameplay in both players. In any case, as long as you are having fun, winning and loosing are secondary!
Thank you that's really helpful. I'm playing thunder lizards in collapsed. At the moment I struggle to setup my army well. My main fault is not using the buffs enough like the priests. I'm running 2 Basildons with solar engine which I'm not sure is a good idea. I was debating swapping one for a Steg.
