I am planning on finalizing some more archers tonight.

Just watched a video explaining the slap chop method.

It's basically just contrast painting with a dual highlight step. Marketed to tourney players as the easy way to get armies that look good to a tournament without ending up having to paint on the train, etc.

I get it, and the results shown were nice, but it seems very limited in application to armies that you don't have heavy use of metallics (such as chainmail) on.

Built the first model of my eventual Luna Wolves (loyalist Sons of Horus) army for Horus Heresy: A Legion Praetor with Paragon Blade and Nemesis Bolter (stalker bolter for you 40k types).

    20221106_022255.jpg

To summarize his choice of wargear, he's to be the warlord of an army using the Recon Company rite of war, which benefits taking Recon, Scout, and Seeker squads at the expense of not being able to have heavy units (i.e. heavy support squads, most types of terminators and dreadnoughts, and so on) on the table at the start of the game. He himself cannot infiltrate or re-deploy at the start of the game, but that doesn't stop him from being able to move and shoot at full Ballistic Skill 5 with a 72" S5 AP5 Breaching (4+) sniper weapon, provided he can see what he's shooting at.

He's the first of three independent characters in the army who will be equipped with a nemesis bolter, with the other two being a Vigilator (who's a master sniper to begin with) and a Master of Signals (who can see in the dark and confer this ability to any unit he joins).

Just ordered some of those Egyptian shields done by Scibor. Unless I've been looking in the wrong place it's been hard to find fitting shields, when I do find them the postage is more than the shields themselves. So in the end I just went for those that were available in the UK.
I get told that they are 'not' fitting enough for the Egyptian aesthetic but it will just have to do, they might fit well for the Temple Guard and the little ones for any other.
The downside of not having a 3D printer.
Could of just made them from scratch but depends how many I can make before my fingers just give up.
Still need to fix that miniature I got, it splitted open and drained uncured resin all over the place, it's weird as it was away from sunlight and stuff.

I think a change of pace would be nice. So, a small break from the Saurus knights and I think I will tackle some Spite revenants.

Wyldwood on the bark and Plaguebearer Flesh on the flesh... and that was it for now :D While waiting for the paints to dry I worked more on the details of the Knights.

I... ordered the parts for a new conversion idea, centered around one of those Ork Warboss on Squigosaurs. For my Grot Tank army, so 40K, but still...

Cutting cardboard boxes (pizza) in to tiles, oddly calming exercise. Watching Critical Roll at the same time ;)

Mozrog + goblin pirate heads = Warboss conversion for my Squig-themed Ork army? We shall see.

And yes, that is a bag full of secondhand Goblin Wolf Riders. 8 of them for my eventual Old World Orcs and Goblins army. This brings my Wolf Riders total to something like 28 wolf riders. I think that is enough for now (which probably won't stop me from buying more of them over time).

A friend of mine and I are sharing a 40k patrol starter set. I got the box and will send the necron models to him, in my first try of a selfmade transport box.

Tried and failed to grind through batch painting Saurus with spears. I just couldn't summon the motivation to do it.

My hobby time is dedicated to finishing off my 5 Saurus knights over the past few days. We are getting closer and closer.
I did pick up a few things today, well they are to be delivered by my visiting mother around Christmas.
24 Saurus Warriors (12 built with clubs and 12 on spruce), a Lady of Vines on spruce and the Sylvaneth warscroll cards.

Hmm, browsing conversion bits online. While I can usually scratch-build most of the bits I need, this doesn't mean I want to.

Oh, and I started to assemble my Squigosaur for the conversion I'm planning.

A little something different for a change.

I recently picked up a 1/72-scale Hasegawa kit for a UAV version of an Mi-24 Hind, and have made some decent progress in putting the thing together so far.

In addition to needing to complete the wing-mounted weapon hardpoints, The rotors, doors, and landing gear aren't glued to the fuselage at the moment, mostly to prep for painting the model properly before final completion.
