Ooo, exciting! If we hadn't seen the chameleon skinks from the Warcry warbands I would think this could be them. Maybe a new unit type?

Edit: yep, looks like the blood bowl star players

Wow! What a great new Salamander model! The frills on the side of the Salamander's head look a little silly to me. I would have rather seen "dilophosaurus-style" frills. Plus, it's bit more static than I assumed GW would make it, but honestly it's very cool.

However, I'm not a fan of the new lore description. Apparently, the Skink Handlers implant Old One tech into the head of the Sallie, turning them into laser-guided mortars. In melee, the Handlers might have to feed them "emberstone" for combat? GW is leaning in harder to the ancient space tech theme. On the other hand, GW might be making Handlers more necessary?

Sadly, Sallies don't hit as well anymore (we knew that couldn't last). They still have -2 Rend, and their attack helps other combat. But they might have lost Mortal Wounds?

The fins are great, as are the the new handlers. Otherwise, it's a chonky boi. The effect is great (same as new troll rules), but with two attacks hitting on 4+ ... well. Not sure if I want to spend all-out attack on this. Might be worth it.

The kit looks alot more like the old old one. Especially reminiscent in the skink crests.

Good point! The crests look really different to all the current skinks. Not sure how well they'll blend into an army... surely we're not going to get new vanilla skinks as well?!

I doubt we'll get new basic Skink models. That kit still looks good and it's already plastic. I think these Handlers are supposed to stand out. When playing, it's a little easier to pick them out and keep them with your Salamander. When all Skinks look the same, you get into issues similar to Fyreslayers or Ossiarch, where you have trouble telling models apart. That said, head swaps are one of the easier changes to make with plastic models.

Personally I think we might end up with new models for the skirmishers. Mostly down to all the new sculpts we're getting for skinks, including the less new Star thingy Stalkers.

The new salamanders look great! Very intimidating.

I'd say skinks have aged worse than Night Goblins and Skaven and they seem to be sticking around. But I think it's 50/50 if they actually give us new models for regular skinks.

I suppose a good argument can be made if you mention soublight skeletones, those old skellies were beloved though I don't think anyone particularly wanted new ones. (I like both versions).

I wouldn't say its too farfetched but it would be nice to update them with new adornments though Kroxigor and Guard would be a higher priority for me.

The only other thing I might want is a new plastic skink priest with at least 2 different designs but then GW aren't exactly keen on making those kind of kits

    The models are exceptionals. :woot:

The rules are underwhelming. :meh: ONE attack at 4+?

Maybe there will be a shorter range flamethrower style attack with better stats whereas this is designed to be some kind of ranged fireball attack?

    These salamanders are beautiful!
Ok you can find more dynamic alternatives around but none are so well mixed with the concept of the "old ones", just look at the skink banner and the "mind control" on the salamander.
Maeby the external gills are not the best (I will remove them sure) but I love these dinethrodon style salamanders.
But most importat..... "There are plenty more scaly creatures waiting to bask in the warm glow of adoration on Warhammer Community"...
    I need more, more, likes a drugs:oops:

Oh I see what you guys mean about the axolotl cheek crests, ye they seem very out of place, I'd probs replace them with something else.

Wonderful. New plastic sculpts. What a great time for Seraphon.
