Im going to have to pre-order everything I want. I got a feeling these new minis will be out of stock for a while as everyone buys them.

That might be alright for me, I've got seraphon models to paint and to buy still so it gives me a break but I feel sorry for people knowing there's bound to people that will have to wait a while

While looking at the description and presentet weapon profile, what would you say, if that was only shooting profile, but you could add +1 to attack profile for every skink handler in this unit, as they show them where to shoot? That wold make them actually important, which GW was struggling to do in previous tomes. That would shift them into long range artillery, and leave razordon as a close-range fire support, and add some competition to our heavy artillery - solar engine. At the same time damage of slamanders would by highly scaleble, as every killed skink would mean less attack - it would be sort of glass canon, with high potensial damage, but easy to cripple. Weren't salamenders marked as Artillery in WFB?

Ps. As i look at it now, it doesn't seem likely that GW would do something like that, but...

"That’s not their only trick. Foes who stray too close may find out what happens when skinks feed their pet salamander some tasty emberstone treats…"

This could be that, or anything.

Sadly I doubt we will know until the book is about to release. Im hoping for some short range mortal wound spam myself.

I hope in the opposite direction. GW should reduce the amount of mortal wounds in every faction. It should be something special, spells or really powerful abilities and not something a goblin with a stick should have.

I feel you, but it would take a lot of effort and a massive rewrite of many battletomes, as that ship sailed long ago.

a new edition is a good starting point for this dont you think? And with every new book it would get better and better

    Yes, it would.

    No, i don't think so.
My main issue is that we all know GW: the first battletomes in a new edition are good, then the power creep comes and with each new 'tome, come also new rules or exceptions to old rules that make obsolete the tomes that opened the way.

We saw it in multiple editions of fantasy and 40k, there's no reason to think it will be different this time. It will only be a matter of how we will handle it.

i agree with you, in the past this power creep isue was normal.
Why they dont take a look at their own product? In 40k there is no problem with this Mortal wound BS.
It would not be that hard to remove this spam

I would also love it if they came out with AOS 4.0 and got rid of all mortal wounds. But I don't believe that they will. People like faster games and mortals facilitate that. So since they won't be getting rid of it, give us more mortals! lol

Instead 40k has a plethora of other issues. Even considering the MW spam in AoS it's a more balanced game than 40k and has been for a while.

    agree

disagree. it took a while but atm the scene is pretty balanced (we're at the end of the edition, so it's kkinda expected).
40k suffered (and will suffer) from internal balance issues, with new codexes that rule tournaments... but these are issues that are rapidly deal with, and tipically the dominance of a certain army lasts only for no more than a couple of months.

In all fairness, Vanilla 40k suffers from an excess of arbitrage (even by the standards required to keep a Seraphon army competitively viable), which is only made worse by the volatile nature of its haphazard patch notes and errata.

Oh, the whole SM would require a long analysis. Let's just say that primaris completely turned the concept of firstborn.
SM was an army of jack of all trades, now they have turned into a bunch of overspecialized dudes.

GW's metawatch winrate data shows all but 5 armies within the 45-55% winrate band for both games. I dont trust their stats as far as i can throw it, but there's literally 0 available indication that 40k is more balanced.

I'm not sure if anyone buys their models from Dark Sphere but nearly the entire Seraphon range is gone from their site. Only the boxes, Skink Starpriest, Kroak, skinks and saurus guard are still there
