You know, somewhere there will be a half-mad, half-genius rules writer who'd be willing to have a go at writing rules for such a game...

And that rules writer would be me!

Is it more than coincidence that this crops up after I played a game of crazy golf yesterday?

Regardless, I'm now going to see if I can come up with some sort of silly Warhammer golf game ruleset now, blending the fun of crazy golf with the silliness of Blood Bowl and the fun side of Warhammer in general. I can easily see Scatter Dice and Artillery Dice getting involved in such a game :p

Horsies! (better then Bretonnia, but that's a given):

Also, a new narrative like Broken Realms and coming, and according to the stream, the will bring TWELVE NEW MINIATURES FOR THE EXISTING FACTIONS, with four new Regiments of Renown and some of those miniatures being heroes that will be released first with them!

With the first book, they will release:

THE BEST ONE out of the bunch, plastic Harbinger of Decay:

    Marrowscroll Herald for FEC:

    Grimhold Exile for Fyreslayers:

And finally but not least, Rabble-Rowza for GSG:

(I'll continue in the next post because I can only fit 10 images per post)

GO PIG OR GO HOME WITH THE SECOND BOOK!:

Have a roadmap for the books for the rest of the year:

TOW didn't had a date, but it sure had two resin heroes for TK and Brets:

They promised that the first two factions they will refresh are going to be those two, but they will make rules for every other 8th Edition army right away, and then their main focus will be the factions of The Old World, so maybe don't expect to see lots of Lustrian movements around.

HH had two new heroes and, most importantly, plastic Cerastus Knights.

Confirmed new models for TK and Bretonnia, every 8th army will be playable, with new plastic and resin models.

    *TOW

I'm not saying it was a bad preview, but it was just so little. I wanted much more!

    Excuse me?

Personally I think these horses look way too tall, though scale creep doesn't help, and there's no way these are superior to Bretonnian Knights. Unless you were specifically relating to the 6th Edition models that will be resurrected for TOW, which I will accommodate, though I doubt these will look better than any new Bretonnian Knight models GW will make. These are just a ramshackle, undisciplined-looking Empire Knight rip-off.

Not fond of Nurgle and not the best one in my view, but a good plastic recreation of the old mounted Nurgle Chaos Lord.

My personal least favourite of the models, but I'm sure FEC players will like it.

On one hand, I'm pleased to see Fyreslayers getting something new, but I'd really rather we had got a new unit, perhaps instead of Orcs which already have a plethora of units now that the three Orc sub-factions have been merged together.

The model itself is great, I'm interested to notice that GW are going back to the old Slayers in reference to the Mohawk and beard accessories (previous Fyreslayer models had tall helmets to support their mohawks and runic rings without jewels on their beards), and that they're willing to give Fyreslayers hammers as part of their arsenal (and given that hammers are a Dwarfy weapon, I should think so).

Maybe GW are waiting for the last remaining Dispossessed stuff to be moved back to TOW where it belongs before releasing more units for Fyreslayers, so that they don't move into occupied territory in terms of equipment until after the regular Dwarfs have vacated it.

As always, a cracking model for Gloomspite. GW have certainly done well with the Night Goblins.

A good Orcy monster, but as mentioned above, if it has to be one faction or the other I'd rather have seen Fyreslayers get the new unit and Orcs getting a new character. While Orcs do have a fair few character models, they haven't got the lack of unit variety Fyreslayers are suffering from right now.

    *Sigh*

These are excellent models, but it's most disappointing to hear they'll be in that infernal Forge World Resin, when we've seen a fair few Horus Heresy character models in plastic, particularly generic characters. This had better not happen with the rest of the range or I'll have to unload some furious anger in the Grumpy Slann thread (as it would not be seemly to do it here).

I trust this was part of the Twitch stream? Because I never saw any such news in the article.

On one hand, it's great to finally get a confirmation that there will be plastic models for TOW, they will be resurrecting plastics from previous Editions, and that Bretonnians and Tomb Kings will be at the front of the queue for a model refresh, but as others have said, there was so little to offer in this preview, and after this, I'm back to thinking GW will completely disregard the 40th anniversary of Warhammer Fantasy and postpone TOW to 2025.

Certainly a disappointment compared to yesterday's preview.

So does anyone else get a sort of Mordheim vibe off those Cities of Sigmar cavalry? Also that new Nurgle character is awesome.

Interesting to notice that the Ushabti and Carrion images are in black and white and the Necrosphinx is in colour - suggesting that they're in the process of designing new (hopefully plastic) models for Carrion and Ushabti, and already have the 8th Edition Necrosphinx up for rerelease.

The details on that Bretonnian model are crisply painted... but if it is the same FW resin that I had to struggle with my (finally) finished dreadnought, I am concerned :(

No big starter box doesn't sound right for GW and removes an option for new players. I hope the army boxes won't be as expensive as these new Vanguard and Combat Patrol boxes and will be more like the old Battalion/Start Collecting boxes, for the sake of those who don't have any old armies.

GW would have to be mad not to release full army books for all the existing Fantasy factions eventually, whether they live in the Old World or not - excluding any faction from the new game would be no better than getting rid of Bretonnians and Tomb Kings in 1st Edition AoS.

The new plan for Lizardmen seem to be an oxymoron - I can understand not wanting to introduce the new Skink Cavalry or mega-Velociraptors to Fantasy just yet, but how will those who want to splash out on the new models and those who missed out on the old models be able to play standard Saurus Cavalry? Buy the old models off EBay and watch them stick out like a sore thumb when set up with the rest of the army? Buy the Skink Cavalry as proxies and pretend that the riders are super-hench Skinks that have somehow gained Strength and Toughness 4? Unless GW plan to make a new set of Saurus Cavalry specifically for TOW that falls in line with the new AoS aesthetic, that does present an issue to those who don't have a classic Lizardmen army.

Looking forward to seeing what new units they come up with for Bretonnia and possibly Tomb Kings at any rate, as long as the models are mostly plastic as they should be.

The necrosphinx is basically the only model in the whole TK range i don't have, so it would be welcome!

The Carrion could definitely use an update, those models are dated. The old metal Ushabti are still absolutely fantastic sculpts in my opinion.

I'm thinking of just buying the Raptadon mounts and attaching Saurus riders to them.

    Ok thoughts:

    AoS:

    Nurgle boi is best boi.

The sigmarite knights are good, I'd paint them.

Pig with sidecar orcs, what's not to like?

Slayer is predictable, as is the goblin.

Tomb king painter needed quality control. That skin tone is horrendous.

I like the paladin. The orc head is a nice touch.

    Artwork is excellent.

Returning codex artwork vs image is going to be my new desktop background for a bit
