Hi everyone, I've been wanting to convert some regular skinks into chameleon. I'm gonna need to bend some of the tails before actually making them chameleon's tail. I've been told a bowl of hot water might do the trick. I've also been thinking about using a candle to ''heat'' the plastic before bending it. Any ideas???
If you want them coiled like the skink model tails, you are much better off cutting the tails off and making new ones with greenstuff. Or at least extending what they have. You will not get the plastic to bend that much. Water is the safest way to go, hot air from a hairdrier also works well but need to be careful not to use too much. I wouldn't use an open flame, that would start melting plastic really fast. Also some wax from the candle might stick to the model and retard the paint. It is good advice from n810 to practice with some sprue or something you don't care about first.
Yeah the idea was to bend it a little before finishing it with green stuff . Thanks everyone for the advice and I will let you know how it turns out.
