The Tyranids are coming along nicely and working on the new models has been a lot of fun.

Into the longest stretch which is the edge highlights on all the scales.
    IMG_20230724_235703.jpg IMG_20230724_235623.jpg

Fortunately I'm only doing the one highlight on the scales but I quite like what the Moot Green adds to the model as a whole.
I'm about at the halfway point as I post and I don't think I'll get this step done by tonight but the progress is going nicely and most importantly it's still enjoyable :D

    Done with the Tyranids :D

    PXL_20230725_213545732.jpg PXL_20230725_213638890.jpg

I wanted them to be somewhere on the line between simple/fast, keeping in mind that in the future there'll be another 20 of these but also a standard that I'm happy with. I feel like I've achieved that nicely.

Now I want to make progress with the 1000 point Seraphon army I want to take next month. I have the list I just need to put the models together, mostly painting and the bare minimum of converting.

Great job there! They look properly threatening. Will you be basing them all at once when you get rest of the models?

    Thank you. :)
That's the idea or if I get hit by some kind of inspiration in the meantime.

I love the scheme for your nids! The green edge highlights over the purple are really striking.

Thanks I think it ended up being a nice addition and one I'm very happy with. :)

I worked a little on five Saurus warriors that were basically finished(no images). It's hard picking up on mostly completed models after a month or two without touching them but again I'm happy to have worked on them that bit more. Tomorrow I'm onto the next five that are only primed black.

From space Lizards to.... Well more space Lizards although the more grounded type :p I guess I have a thing for them.

Still working on the five painted ones but base coating the others whilst washes n various tidying dries. Man these models are everything I wanted out of the new sculpts really a joy to paint. Lots of details but not overdone like some models.

    (Sotek Green)
Only the one highlight though I came back in after shading with a light Stegadon Scale Green dry brush.

I'm not one for timing myself whilst painting but it took about 20 minutes per model.
    PXL_20230729_214132251.jpg

Now for my favourite part in adding the light blues and layering the details. Always a hugely satisfying step. It's in this part where the models come to life.

His shield has that real turquoise stone vibe.

Great to see the progress on the whole unit.

Hey thanks, I'm glad I went with the turquoise, initially I thought it was too out there for me but it's given them a nice touch that I probably wouldn't normally do :D
    IMG20230801213703.jpg
This is after two coats of Sotek Green on the skin. They're looking like Saurus Warriors :p
Now onto the Temple Guard blue, to layer it and then finish up with Bahabroth blue.

Progress has slowed down a bit in the last few days for a few reasons but the biggest being my extended family are hosting a camp week for a group of 16 people with a wide variety mental health issues.
Since the warriors are mostly done I've moved onto the first of 3 heroes in the army. I suppose I'll start of with my list :D

    Seraphon
    Coalesced Koatl's Claw
    Grand Strategy: TBA
    Leaders:
Saurus Oldblood on Carnosaur (General)(260) *
    Prime warbeast
    Blade of Realities

    Saurus Oldblood(130) *

    Ripperdactyl Chief (110) *
    Arcane Tome

    Battleline
    Saurus warriors with Spears(180)
    Full command

    Saurus Warriors with Clubs(180) *
    Full command

    Saurus Guard(140) *
    Alpha
    Drummer

    1000\1000 points

Most of the army is already done and either needs basing or touching up, the Ripperdactyl chief is the exception and needs painting almost in full. I really haven't enjoyed painting the Ripperdactyl now or in the past. I really struggle to say I like it in terms of the paint job at any point during the process so far. Maybe the end result will make me think otherwise but for now it is a slow process. :D

Happy with the process today, I think it's coming along in a way I like. Although I've been told I need to put patterns in the wings from someone I can't say no to :(

Well today was game day at my local store and I participated in Warhammering for the first time against somebody other than my wife :D.
Eight players, two games though I missed the first game due to work, really simplified, no Grand strategies or Battle tactics playing from the new GHB at the 1000 point mark. You score by holding objectives running down the middle and into each territory. So much fun, met a bunch of really nice guys. The Person I played with was truly wonderful and should be hired as the perfect introductory guy :D

He played Flesh Eater Courts against my Seraphon. Those Ghouls kept coming back :( Though fortunately I kept killing enough to score the middle objective and they couldn't put a scratch on my warriors with the help of some truly horrendous dice rolls from my opponent. The true mvp though was my Oldblood on foot who survived with five wounds after two rounds of going up against a heavily buffed Varghulf courtier. He cast flame weapon and a spell that adds I think D3 attacks to the profile. Which he got 2 additional attacks, this was also his finest hour. I countered with my own finest hour as well as an all out defence to buffer my save. Still that Varghulf was scary and could attack twice due to feeding frenzy.

I ended up winning 12-4 but we ran out of time, I feel like it would've swung around more had the game gone on.
(no photos because I'm really good with that sort of stuff :p)

Have been working on my Lumineth a little and this is what I have
    PXL_20230827_201802370.jpg

Keeping the colours mostly grounded with greens and browns I'm quite satisfied how it's going.

There's something about my Wardens I'm just not too sure about and I think in an attempt to make it pop I lost exactly what I had in mind for this scheme in the first place.
    PXL_20230827_201917808.jpg

Anyway my list never really included them in the first place :p The end goal is a Wind charger focus, with Foxes flying around and Bladelords as the foot troops. We'll see how that develops :D
