I have them but didn't paint them. Got them in 8th and they tended to just get slaughtered. So beautiful but sadly not good in game. Which is why I own 17 Venators lol.One thing that annoys me that we will no longer have the Warhammer Armies Project to give me rules for this game. They did a great job for them in 7th and 8th.

The No.1 rule for keeping games fun and balanced!

Great to hear you've found yourself a fun group that keeps the proper 40K ruleset alive. I've concocted my own 6th mini-group among my family members that play Warhammer and a couple of friends that uses 6th Edition books for the armies that have them, and 7th Edition books for the armies that didn't get 6th ones (ignoring all the crap like Tactical Objectives and formations that 7th shoved in).

Yeah, the only real problem with 6th (that continued in 7th) was that Tau and Eldar were just made so strong (though the ultimate undercosted dick unit that was/is the Wraithknight certainly contributed a lot to that). I notice how even today there are sites like 1d4/1d6Chan that give the Tyranid 6th Edition Codex flak, but to be honest, especially with the added 7th units like Tyrannocytes and Toxicrenes, I still think it's solid against most armies - Space Marines of both flavours, Daemons, Guard, Orks, even Necrons if you disregard the formations, are all fair game for Tyranids, it's simply that the Tau and Eldar books raised the bar so high powerwise that anything that everyone was hoping/expecting the Tyranid book to follow in the footsteps of those two, when of course instead it chose to join the Chaos Marine and Space Marine ones in being a lot less cheesy.

About a third of the way building this mdf fantasy airship my lovely wife got me for father's day.
It will be about 8 inches long and about the same high when finished.

Most of us have been playing since 2nd or 3rd edition so the last few editions haven't felt like warhammer to us. The Eldar and tau both have knight units that overpreform for their cost. I don't mind if you show up with a wraithknight or a riptide but multiples of both with a detachment that allows the riptide to shoot twice! Just, just no. We also nerfed the grav weapons to be like how they are in 30k after a five man marine unit in one turn of shooting killed three leman russ. First hit immobilized the next hit then did double hull points ! I agree they needed something but that gun was too good.

Contemplating Orcs/Orruks/Orks and trying to figure out what I would need to sculpt a squig the size of an Ork Stompa, that I can use as a stand-in for an Ork Stompa. I'm thinking of starting with a large foam ball from a craft store.

I was going to build a stompa with a Mr Potato Head and my wife then bought me four. That's love people. Sadly I sold my Orks due to me not having the time to give them the love they deserved. I just was hooked up with a Skarsnik and Gobla for my orcs. I've wanted on for a long time.

Yes, that is love. Also awesome. Don't let her get away, seriously.

Love Skarsnik! I've still got Morglum Necksnappa and the 4th/5th edition sculpt of Azhag the Slaughterer

Lucky! I was after those but kept getting distracted by so many other things. I still lack a wyvern for my greenskins. I feel I've let them down. I still would love a second arachnarock.

Yeah, I kind of went on an ebay-greenskinz collecting spree when I started playing AoS in early 2nd edition. Wound up with 30+ boar boyz, something like 40 wolf riders, 2 wyverns (one 5th ed Azhag, one generic 6th/7th edition), 3 boar chariots... all sorts of stuff

Insane? Maybe but I can say I did the same buying spree for a few of my armies so all respect. I traded for a lot of boar boys, not quite 30+ lol. They weren't good in 8th so people were getting rid of them and I got some for a steal.

Yeah, the problem I had is I kind of went all Civ on the orcs, and went "just one more boar boy..."

Theu are a really fun army. I started making scratch built pump wagons and lots of random fun units. I still don't have mangler squig or wyvern despite them being really good. But I have lots of trolls and regular squigs. What I really want are forest goblins, I love those old models.

Yeah, I need to take my troggoths and make conversion bases for them so I can use them with my Orcs and Goblins. I've mostly got boar boys, boar chariots, and wolf riders, but enough other stuff to make trying to decide what to paint a mess :D

I was told to make a list and paint that. If I have a game coming up that would work. It worked for my dwarves as I psinted about 3000 pts in a month because I was being told I had a game.

Contemplating what I would need to do to turn a 6" diameter styrofoam ball into a ginormous squig. Because. Don't ask. Also resisting the urge to pull out 6 boxes of old Orcs and Goblins minis to count how many 30mm sq and 30x60mm rectangle bases I need to order. The answer is: a lot.

That's why I didn't want the base change. I use multiple hordes for my orcs and goblins can't imagine the cost. I also have a Skaven army...it's big and the idea of changing those many is insane. Add that I still play 7th and 8th edition and it's definitely movement trays for me. On the gigantic squig, do it!

Ah, therein lies the rub - at the moment, NONE of these are based anyway, so it isn't REbasing (except for the black orcs, those are the Ardboyz that I pulled out of my Ironjawz army since they're not equipped right for the current Ardboyz rules)... ... and I would not want to rebase a Skaven army unless you got those base modder pieces that just fit over the old 20mm bases to turn them into 25mm ones....

Those do look rather cool and for easier to do. When I get home I'll have to post a picture of the army. I have a few unbuilt models but it's one of the few that are fully painted, along with my Dwarves and greenskins. Otherwise I have a weird amount of finished to unfinished.
