I had some time this long weekend to play a game woth my son. During it we descovered that we forgot a feature of his army's general so decided to keep playing, but without keeping score. Played scenario: Defend the gate. The defender (my son) has to keep the attacker (me) outside of 6 inches from the gate. Both mounts as casualties during shooting in the first rounds. Then the pile in began. This continued for a couple of rounds with little casualties on either side. In the end 1 Numenorian was left standing facing 6 orcs. 6 dice against 2 dice. I rolled a 6 and then my son decided to roll a 6 as well thus winning the skirmish. Right after it the game ended. My son lost the scenario, but due to winning the last skirmish he had a blast of a game Fun little game and a reminder to keep good check of the stats of all models Grrr, !mrahil
Also the last models of the Castle faction of the Heroes of Might and Magic 3 board game are all painted. The heroes: And the Home Town: Grrr, !mrahil
The thing we forgot was that his general basically had a banner function (rerolling failed duel rolls) To represent this for next game I decided to make a model with banner for him. I took a Numenorean warrior ans cut his hand off. Glued on him a spare spearhand of a Gondor Knight with a crossbar attached to it. And finally cut a banner out of paper. Ready for him to paint Grrr, !mrahil
Lovely work on those HOMAM minis and great kitbash on banner bearer! May I suggest coating paper in water thinned PVA? It will allow stretching a bit and middle of flag will embrace pole a bit to emulate natural flag movement in wind.
Thanks man! You may Great idea, I will try it for a next one. It is already primed and my son started painting I however do usually use a small overload of PVA anyway but thinning down might help shaping more. Isn't there more risk of tearing the paper? Grrr, !mrahil
There is small risk, you still have to really try to tear it. Which is good for you, but bad for my evil forces as those wet paper tears look more realistic than cutting "tear shape" with scissors. And you can also make cuts somewhere in middle and let ripped fabric hang down.
Here is the Numenorean with banner painted by my son. Also his first attempt at freehand: Needless to say I am a proud father Grrr, !mrahil
I have finally painted the vegetation on the bases of my skink unit great feeling of acomplishment, they were sitting on the desk for over 2 months... Grrr, !mrahil
I am not sure if I have shown this one here yet, but here is a progress picture on the Uruk-hai warriors: Grrr, !mrahil
After the Castle faction now for the Necropolis faction of the Heroes of Might and Magic III the boardgame. First up the cheapest of the bronze units: Skeletons Grrr, !mrahil
