Well some tournaments begin to have some limitations and due that is not always possible (due choice or cost) to play both Slann and Oldlord on carnosaur. If scarvet on carnosaur is still a solid choice, and since cold one cavalry is high risk to be played, I wonder what do you think about a scarvet bsb on foot. I thought something like GW+ glyph necklace giving MR 2 to all the unit (and warbanner if enough points left)

How would you play it (if you would play it, I am never tried by myself but thinking it) and in which unit (saurus/TG) and with which equipment?

If it's inside a unit, it's probably a good bet. I'm not sure about the glyph, 45 points is a lot to protect a 90 point 2 wounds. Yes, MR is useful to the unit - but they're only infantry.

Honestly I'm not sure I would give him any magic items except a charmed shield. Perhaps a biting blade if you're worried about ethereal.

120 points with bsb, 145 with warbanner (points extra if killed). Yeah 45 are not few but if you can save 1-2 saurus from a fireball maybe it’s worth it. Even if you cannot save yourself directly

Do your infantry get targeted that often by MM? There just seems like better options on the table

Not so often, but when skinks are killed yes. However they get targeted often with other booring spells, like hex for example

This BSB Scar-Veteran is just okay, not particularly strong.
It relies heavily on a robust infantry block, specifically Temple Guard,
which in turn necessitate heroes positioned on the front lines.
However, infantry units are not very effective in the OW.
After testing this list, I found the Carnosaurs, Kroxs and Bastiladons to be the most useful units.

I'm currently working on a setup:
Scar Veteran as BSB with the Sun Standard of Chotec for protection vs shooting + Sword of swiftness (First strike) + paymaster coin (reroll to hit)

The idea here is to have a large block Saurus or TG with war banner (or rampaging banner). Have the strike first + reroll = hope to kill several opponents for as little hits back as possible. In that case some of the infantry hit back as well.
Base CS is most likely 5 to start with (banner, BSB, 2 ranks, close orde). If scar veteran can do some wounds, there has to be an agressive opponent in the front to do at least 5+ wounds.

Old Blood can join, in the setup I played once the old blood had talisman of protection and Ogre Blade.

I like the idea of having a large block infantry with characters. Great/good durability and a nice punch.

I'm planning on playtesting this in combo with skinks, bastiladon, Slann and Steg or cold ones for a small tournament.

I do like the idea of the magic restinance 2, as I want the unit to be as resilient as possible.

Sword of swiftness works only on the hero, not the troup. And 4 attacks with no AP...idk. isn't bad but not the best either. And if you are charged on flank or rear you get no attacks. Sorry but I am not a fan of heroes on foot =)

I don't either understand how you can give glyph necklace to the unit. It may also be resistant agaisnt magic and shooting but
    1) catapult hit and you are not in good situation
    2) vortex works anyway
    3) a cavalry charge with furious charge and 10 attacks (or more if you have a champion inside) hittting at 3 and 2 still kill you

Just to make clear, I'm not a fan of heroes on foot as well.
But in casual play we're playing some restriction games where we can only field 1 cav/chariot units. No monsters en heroes only on foot.
So I've got to make something work :)

But it might be more interesting to give scar veteran great weapon an magical item which grants better AS or WS.
Make him survive and hit back hard...

Well ...a flying saurus maybe isn't so bad either =)
Charmed shield, great weapon and he can hide at the side of the skinks ;)
Not sure he is effective but funny will it be!
