I am about to take part in an escalation campaign for The Old World. With the Renegade Legacy Pack floating around I think it’s time to build and paint a Lizardmen army for The Old World. The escalation campaign starts at 500 points and will climb to 2000 points in 500 point jumps. The campaign is set in The Border Princes. So I need a background for while the Lizardmen are there. The Lizardmen Background: “The Design falters. The pulse weakens. The echo must be answered. The call came not in speech, but in signs. A bleeding sun. Shattered glyphs. Visions that clawed at Huin'Tec's mind. Far across the sea, in the Border Princes, something has broken. A Slann stirs from centuries of silence. And a warband forms—small, but determined. This is the beginning of The Serpent's Path.” In the forgotten corners of the Border Princes, something ancient stirs. Guided by dreams and signs from a long-slumbering Slann, a Skink Priest named Huin'Tec guides a growing Lizardmen force across the ocean from Lustria. The mission: awaken a forgotten nexus of the Old Ones' geomantic web. Chapter 1: The Dream That Walks (500pts) ++ Characters [212 pts] ++ Saurus Scar-Veteran; Xok'Tok [122 pts] (Hand weapon, Heavy armour (Scaly skin), Shield, General, On foot, Talisman of Protection) Skink Priest; Huin'Tec [90 pts] (Hand weapon, Light armour (Calloused hide), Level 2 Wizard, On foot, Elementalism) ++ Core Units [285 pts] ++ 10 Skink Skirmishers [55 pts] (Hand weapons, Javelins, Shields, Light armour (Calloused hides), Patrol Leader (champion)) 10 Skink Skirmishers [55 pts] (Hand weapons, Javelins, Shields, Light armour (Calloused hides), Patrol Leader (champion)) 11 Saurus Warriors [175 pts] (Hand weapons, Shields, Heavy armour (Scaly skin), Spawn Leader (champion), Standard bearer, Musician) Huin'Tec (needs to be rebased) Starting some painting on the skinks. Going for my favorite pallet of green skin and red crests. For basing i want the skinks to be on broken temple floor, while the saurus to be less broken temple floor. The idea being the skinks are skirmishing ahead in the ruins. More to come! Cheers
Great work already, promising start! Love the little bit of lore and enjoy the 5th edition skink models Good luck painting your army. Grrr, !mrahil
I'm looking forward to seeing this project come together If you can cut a patrol leader from your skinks, you could add a great weapon to your Scar-Vet. Its handy to have the option to choose that at the start of combat if there is some good armour you need to punch through.
Okay, no major progress made… but we have made some. For the shield arm of the Scar-Vet I cut the axe arm from the standard bearer and combined it with the shield arm of the saurus champion (as the base shield arm looks ridiculously stupid). Then I based the Scar-Vet on some elevated temple floor. I want to use the temple blocks (on the base) as a reoccurring theme for the arm. So potentially some warpaint/tattoo or maybe some paint on the shields. The only item left for Xok'Tok is to convert/sculpt a “Talisman of Protection” then paint! So for the time being, here is Scar-Vet Xok’Tok. Next item is to base the saurus unit of 11 with full command. Cheers
