This was a bit of a mish mash between Mortezuma (big monster Necro) and Xinfernoc (missiles), and a straight battle today. I did my normal trick of placing two hills on the same side and hoping to win the roll off (which I did) I also got first turn so a good start for me.

    Turn 1
I get first turn and basically run straight at him. I get a magic missile or two off and do some damage to the globadiers.

He aims his shooting on the Troglodon and kills it. He charges the swarms but we do more damage to him, although he wins with ranks it looks like we are better.

    Turn 2 - me

My stegadon charges the clanrats. My opponent counter charges with his detachment but we found out later that it should have been a supporting charge. The stegadon kills the detachment and hits the flank of the clanrats. We easily win the combat, the swarms run down the rats.

Aeontezin charges the doom wheel and kills it.

His post-it notes are rat swarms and they eat a lot of shooting.

    Turn 2 - him

He focuses a lot of shooting on the Saurus. What works even better is an epic miscast by Slann which kills 6 temple guard!!

His lightning cannons aren't doing well..one hits the Steg but the talisman stops them and one blows himself up.

    Turn 3 - me

Aeontezin starts out by being stupid! And shuffles up. He will now get shot to bits.

After... 10+ games of trying to pull this off I finally succeed... Ready for an epic moment....

My Slann casts Spirit Leech on the clanrats. My stegadon charges. The clanrats have to take a terror check at -3 leadership. 10 becomes 7 and he rolls an 8! The clanrats then (because of the units behind them) flee off the table. Along with the Lord and his weeping blade and paymasters coin.

    Rest of the game
Aeontezin does get shot to death but takes down some jezails.

The swarms die from shooting and bad combat rolling

The TG never end up in combat.

I manage to sneak 3 wounds through on the grey seer through shooting

    Takeaways
High risk high reward plans always feel a little cheap but yes I'm pretty happy I finally pulled off the idea of attacking leadership and charging with terror.

Those cannons have potential now, he just got unlucky. I thought D3+1 was too good but it didn't turn out that way. For 110 points I think they are probably too strong but we'll need more games to know.

He was unlucky with his shooting and he also failed 3 look out sir rolls to lose his grey seer. Although tbh the game changing roll was that terror test. If he had passed it, it's hard to imagine the stegadon taking down his lord (weeping blade and paymasters coin) but it was certainly possible.

In terms of my luck, well Aeontezin failing stupid got himself killed. And that miscast literally killed 6 temple guard and basically turned the unit from functional to barely surviving. But none of these things were game breaking. The luck swung hard at times but that's Skaven for you!
