Ah, I suppose conflict era has to be taken into account...

btw - saw a review for those Wargames Atlantic Guards and Villagers sets... those have a lot of potential...

Hmm... only for Medieval gaming, really, and if you have an opponent who's a real historical purist you're going to have to be careful about inaccuracies in the clothing and armour. But if there's a review that advocates them for other purposes as well, by all means share with us - I'm happy to be proven wrong.

(despite the apparent advantage of the attackers, number superiority is not always a guaranteed victory, especially if the defenders are elite, have superior cannon power and time on their side.
It ended in a draw, but very fun game)

Very nice! Which part of Italy were you fighting to add to the new unification territory?

Funnily enough, not long after I posted this initial response, I found someone from the WA Legion Facebook group had kitbashed the Villagers with Great Escape Games' Gunfighters sets to make some very convincing 19th Century civilians:

Having had a look at a pic of the sprue, I have indeed noticed there are a fair few heads that would work nicely for 19th Century citizens, particularly the poorer members of society in those days, and even the bodies too. I can certainly say my interest in Steampunk gaming is piqued by these figures now...

Okay, I give up. Does anyone have any suggestions for multi-part kits for modern-ish (as in, 1960s to current) civilians? I could just pick up a bunch of model train figures, but they'll be pre-cast static poses. I'm a big fan of multi-part kits for making minis and would like to be able to customize poses without spending a fortune. No 3d printing options, please, I don't have access to that tech.

For what scale are you looking for?

If it's 28mm heroic, Anvil Industry has the parts to mix and match as you see fit.

Wargames Atlantic have some modern civilians as a plastic kit on the way... https://wargamesatlantic.com/blogs/...ivilians-survivors-men-box-and-a-bonus-teaser

Though moderns don't count as proper historical for the purposes of the thread ;)
