Harbingers of Taelus- Delegatus Lasraad now complete! Spoiler: be warned, here there be LORE One of the higher-ranking members of the Iron Council to survive within the ranks of Clan, the maimed consul was the first to cede leadership to Selok after the events of Istvaan. Inscrutable, terse, but loyal to a fault, Lasraad was found to be increasingly single-minded in his pursuits, to the point where as the heresy continued his cognitive faculties were increasingly questioned by his peers. Yet none could question his martial prowess, as on the battlefield he strode through the ranks as a living symbol of resilience and grit inspiring the legionnaires around him to fight on for the remnants of the legion. Spoiler: oh no! Two lore blurbs in one post??!! Please send help!!! We were not born astartes, we were made. Made in the image of our father, who was in turn made in the image of his father. But he was not truly his father, nor were we his grandsons. We had our own, true fathers and grandfathers once, flesh and blood. Before we were scooped up and herded off to the gene pits to be sorted, crafted, smelted into soldiers of iron. I used to mull over these thoughts... many times. The cogitive functions of my brain are now mostly excised along with most of my human form, replaced by the cold, unsentimental steel of machintata. It was born of injuries but has brought me tranquility. - Consul Lasraad, shortly before his death during the Great Scouring. Injuries sustained resulted in over 75% of his body replaced by cybernetic implants. Spoiler: no lore this time, just more pictures I promise Original inspiration for this mini was found on the internet, source unknown: Very pleased with this guy as you can probably tell
'When the Smiling Ones arrived, there was an odd sense of relief amongst the men as the interminable boredom gave way to that fizzing excitement that preceded danger. Two weeks later and with casualties mounting, any sense of relief was gone. 'Why the hell did they come here?' we thought – until we realised that it wasn't minerals or strategic positioning that they sought. It wasn't even the prospect of outflanking the Eagles' position that they wanted.' They were after us.' [//Sergeant Vonto, last survivor of the Accadian Fourth; Lostside Garrison+] Jade Talons Endurance Cadre, led by Veteran Noor, the Jade-Touched. This chapter was created by @adams_james_creates for the War of the False Primarch project (index astartes article). Loved how the color scheme came out in my feeble attempt to harken back to Adam's beautifully painted style! Mine came out much more sloppy but the pics give them a nice gritty look. Spoiler: more Jade Talons pics These marines were made with some Reiver bodies I purchased online, and the rest of the parts were sourced from my bits bin as I had plenty of infiltrator/incursor/reiver parts left over from my Deathwatch project. The leader, who you have already seen I just redid his base a bit to be less bright tan, as it blended too much into his armor. Reiver dudes: Infiltrator dudes: And a peek into how I photographed all of these guys! Nice simple setup; the board is just foam with sand on top, a few plaster (I think) rocks from a terrain kit purchased over a decade ago, with a few coats/drybrushes of craft paint schlopped on top by me and my kids. Undisciplined.... Reivers... Savages.... Consumed by the thrill of the hunt, that was their ultimate undoing under the baleful gaze of a false idol. [//Jade Talons. War of the False Primarch.//]
