If they do another series my bet would be on 40k.

We might like Settra better, but Nagash was the stronger of the two, even before the End Times. The only one I'd definitively put above Nagash (discounting gods of course) is living Lord Kroak.

Plus, Nagash is self-made. Kroak was created powerful by the Old Ones. Archaon has the backing of the Chaos gods. Nagash was just a puny human who mastered necromancy better than any had or has since.

The Chaos factions AND the Elven factions got unfairly advantaged.

I know about Chaos getting unfairly advantaged, I wasn't aware that the elves got the same treatment.

All elves or just the haughty (high) variety?

Nope, Dark Elves too. Indeed, Dark Elves got the best treatment of all Elf factions across 8th, like in 7th.

I suppose I should have seen that coming when I remember the fact that Malekith passed through the Whatsit Flame and become the rightful king of the elves with the justification of "it's supposed to burn you and then remake you, everybody else was just cheating to avoid burning"

Combining the Elven factions (who individually were already three of the most powerful armies) into one super faction was obscene.

    So much this.
Of course, Settra is Settra and I love him more... but he was no match for Nagash

I hear you guys. I don't know the story for The End Times (other than what Nagash becomes in AoS), but I still think Settra gets punked out too quickly. Of course, it is just a trailer and not a mini-movie.

You've got to give him credit that despite being outmatched, he stood his ground. His spirit is unbreakable. He does not serve. You can beat him but you can't break his will.

Does Nagash, without his legions, beat Archaon? What about Grimgor? Or Malekith?

I'm guessing Kroak (when he was alive) beats all?

Grimgor certainly beat Archaon once, soundly

And yes, Storm of Chaos deserves to be considered if End Times is, as the former was the better story continuation by far.

The boot to the nads that had Chaos collectively cupping their nethers and going home, deeming the entire affair as one that doesn't count, because gosh-dangit, that just wasn't playing fair. XD

    :D:D:D:D

I still prefer that as the better scenario. Too bad the WoC fanboys wanted their precious Everchosen to get his own way :shifty:

Stuff what GW think, the End Times is the fanfiction, Storm of Chaos was already decided to be natural story progression, and that way the Old World can live on so that further stories can be told

Why would it not be counted as canon? Is it not a Games Workshop publication?

Because GeeDubs basically retconed Storm of Chaos into an alternate timeline. SoC was essentially the original attempt at depicting the End Times events, but GeeDubs made the "mistake" of having the narrative driven by the players reporting their battles and outcomes. In theory, it would have been a good way of making the community feel like their battles were actually having an affect on the world, that we are truly fighting in a campaign to save (or destroy) the Old World. Problem? GeeDubs threw a hissy fit that it wasn't Chaos winning.

Same issue happened in 40K and the multitude of Black Crusades that were fought back. In the end, as much as I think Cadia being destroyed was an awesome move and really set the narrative for the storm that would actually require Primarchs to start making their return... having the narrative turn around and say "Oh, those thirteen Black Crusades weren't actually failures, it turns out that Abbadon had secret objectives all along, and somehow nobody noticed the pattern of these ancient Necron pylons or whatever they were always being destroyed in each crusade."

Lesson to take away from this? GeeDubs aren't truly committed to letting the gamers have a hand in the truly monumental events, because they don't like it when the wrong teams win.
