    Absolutely!

My latest work on my Armoured Clash Crown force has been to partially-scratchbuild one of the unit entries - a Mordred Heavy Siege Gun:

Reason being that Crown particularly like their Artillery units, and there are only enough parts in the Introductory Set to make two of one variant - the Mordred or the Bors Heavy Bombard. The Bombard I felt was easier to build using the full array of official parts, so I decided to make a scratch chassis for the Mordred parts left over (the large ornate shield and the Siege Gun itself... plus some flagpoles trimmed down to make the frontal supports for the gun), in order to ultimately allow me to field a Basic unit of each Artillery piece in my starting force. The rest is all either plasticard, bits of old sprue spliced together and filled in with Green Stuff, or, in the case of the wheels, little boxwood ship's wheels made by an Italian company for making scale model naval vessels, with the handholds snipped off.

For reference, a size comparison with the chassis parts from the official sprues, being used to make a Bors (with the latter not having its wheels or railings added yet):

It's coming on nicely I find... still have to think of what to use as similar-looking railings along the edges of the Mordred, and source the crew, but it's certainly progressing.

With the starter sets and first two Regiment boxes now out for every faction in Armoured Clash, future releases are looking interesting - recently Miniature Wargames here in Britain released an issue with a free new Imperium sprue not yet out in retail, designed, I believe, to fix some minor issues in the Imperium ORBAT army list, with some alternative poses for their Teutonic Knights including a Commander, and a Teutonic variant of the Panzerwagen transport:

And some new units teased for Commonwealth, Enlightened, Union and particularly Crown:

I'm really looking forward to picking up at least one (or even two, one of each configuration :D) of that Super-Heavy Tank for Crown...

That is one overcrowded sprue and those heavies look great.

One cannot deny Warcradle know how to make best use of sprue space ;)

And overall it's a big leap forward, because it's the first Armoured Clash sprue that can have viable Basic units made just from one sprue - all the sprues in the Regiment box sets, by contrast, though they are more spacious, only include enough figures and vehicles to make half of each unit included, which meant two sprues were needed to make usable units for the game. Mantic does similar for Epic Warpath as I recall.

Speculation is abounding on the Armoured Clash discord on how this sprue will be released for general purchase - will it appear on its own in a smaller, cheaper box to allow players to just buy some models for one unit and its dedicated transport (as opposed to the Regiment boxes which give you a lot of different units all together), or will it be part of another, third Regiment box for Imperium, along with another sprue containing some brand new units?

Only time will tell... and it'll be interesting either way to find out.

Well... I think Mantic planned to have prefabricated forces as whole and sell them as full armies (as they do now). When I was building sprues, amounts were all over the place. For example:
To make basic infantry squad of 6 bases, you need two sprues.
To make Mule APC unit, you need 3 models, sprue has 2.
There is single walker on sprue, unit is made out of 3
Best of all, Leapers, Bursters and HMGs are single base per sprue, unit is 6 bases.

So you can“t make "half size" army boxes from current (new) sprues, they have to be used in box of 6.

It has begun! Over the past weekend I started painting some of my Armoured Clash Crown models...

The Galahad Medium Tanks have been nearly completed in just the one afternoon... all they need is to have their tracks touched up and washed, and the officer's helmet and binoculars painted:
    [IMG][IMG]

Blood Angels Red contrast paint worked a treat on these to give the illusion of metal sprayed red, as did Retributor Armour in rendering a lovely warm gold on the filigree.

Meanwhile, the first six bases for the Command Platoon of the South Hampshire Regiment's 12th Battalion have had their scarlet jackets painted, again with Blood Angels Red, to similarly nice effect. Most of my efforts were spent getting the tanks ship-shape that afternoon, but when I next get chance to paint I will give the Riflemen some more attention.

And since the last news update, Commonwealth's Third Box has arrived, with a lot of dangerous new reinforcements for Mother Russia:

Additionally, three more factions have had sneak previews of what they'll be getting in their third boxes.

Sultanate will be getting a speedy Sand Yacht unit:

Imperium will be receiving an AT-RT-type light walker (to go alongside the AT-ST equivalent machines in their Armoured Regiment):

And @Killer Angel will no doubt be pleased to see the Italians getting more of a presence in the Alliance faction with a pair of new tank variants :D:
