I have a skink priest from my steg set and am thinking of creating it a special item called the cloak of the leopard gecko, i will create a set of house rules for it and maybe post a picture, these are the temporary rules:

    cloak of the leopard gecko,
This rare item imbues the user with the abilty to predict the enemys moves and dazzle him with the spots and swirling motion of the cloak, the cloak of the leopard gecko gives the user a 5+ ward save, furthermore the user gains the always strike first special rule

plz post thoughts and comments on this idea! :jimlad: :spiderman:

I love the idea of coming up with your own Wargear for friendly games, especially for things like campaigns and such. Cloak of the Leopard Gecko sounds like neat item - I like the rules you've made for it too. As far as points cost goes, I'd say about 25 points should be about good.

I would say the ASF is worth 25 points alone. Add in the ward save and it should be 35 or 40 points. Just my 2 cents. I like the idea. Can't wait to see pictures.

Ah, you're right. After all, if memory serves, SOSS is about that, and it does nothing but give ASF. The only thing I'm worried about is costing it so high that his Skink Priest can't take it. :D

Well you can always throw in a drawback to make it cheaper...

The ward save only works against attacks you have higher initiative than (ranged attacks have initiative infinity).

The problem with most home made magic items is costing them accurately.

The talisman that gives a 5+ ward save is 30 pts, the sword of always striking first is 25pts.

As a single item and thus only using up a single magic item slot it potentially becomes worth more then the 55 pts it would take to obtain the same effect with current items.

At the very least you have to charge 50pts for the item and make it clear that attacks are not magical from this item alone, it would probably be best to add the restriction that it is for skinks only.

Madness, always strike first on a skink priest is worth at the most 5pts.

5+ ward on a skink priest on foot maybe 20pts probably less.

That may be all it is worth to you but the cheapest you can get it currently is 30pts.

A basic skink build is likely to come in at 90 pts, a ward on a scroll caddy is unlikely to be pay for itself as the main reason for preserving the priest is likely to be used before the ward saves the priest from dying. A tooled up 2nd level skink, especially if likely to be throwing lots of dice at a spell may find the ward useful.

ASF as a protection against ASF is worth more to a skink than ASF to attack first.
