Hey fellas, I am just getting back into WHF after a long retirement and had a question or two.....hundred. As you can tell all of my models are older than Adam himself and I was wondering whether a few of them are still playable, namely my old school Slann on their carried palanquin's and some of the older skink heroes?? I appriciate the help and I will keep posting questions here as they come up. Cheers!!!
Welcome back, good timing too! You can learn the latest lizardmen book with the rest of us. I'm new to lizardmen but pretty solid on most 7th edition stuff. The only real requirement for having table-legal models is that they are on the appropriate sized square bases. Obviously it's more appealing to the eye if the model represents roughly what you're playing it as. GW events might require GW models, and WSIWYG tournaments will want you to have an accurate model representation as well. As long as your Slann is on the same sized base you can still use it, and skink heroes are still around. You should be perfectly fine using them.
I wouild try to rebase you slan onto the newer smaller sized base but he should still be usable. Skink characters are still useable as their bases are the same size except the sotek one he is now on a slightly larger base. Though in most cases the newer models look much better.
So do the older rules regarding the Slann model apply because it is an older model, or do you just consider a mage and use the newer rules??
it doesn't matter what edition models you use... some modding might need to be done to make them legal tho you have to be consistent about the rule set... all 5th or all 6th or now all 7th you can't mix and match different rule sets
