Hi everyone i have just started playing warhammer and have chosen to collect the lizard men army, i am in a regular gaming group and am in a campaign, i need help tips and battle stratedgeys please help!!!
well you NEED to get a slaan and a stegadon with engine of the gods otherwise you will end up dead also make sure you have lots of cold ones ( i have 16 and there the best in my army) if you get a stegadon make sure you put the priest on the top and take advantage of the D6 +1 impact hits so CHARGE at the enemy to do that....... O and try to vs an enemy with a really bad de-spell pool hope it helps if you have any more questions feel free to ask me or email me
Caffleck, that is a bit harsh.. I'd suggest you start with Saurus Warriors and skink skirmishers. They are never wrong and will always do their job. After you've played a few games and get a hang of the rules, you can look to expand your army. A Salamander is a usefull addition, as you will field him in nearly every battle. The SCOR are good, but not our best option. Buying a box of them does give you the possibility of converting 1 or 2 of them into a Scar-Vet on cold one, and give you some cavalry to boot. The stegadon is a beautifull centerpiece of any lizardmen army, but I'd wait with buying all the heavy stuff before you got a good grip on the game. The slann is very powerfull, and is pretty much mandatory in any games above 2000 points. You could go without him and don't be in any trouble, but if you take him you're in a much better position to win the game. The Hunted
The Hunted is correct. Our cavalry hit hard, but they are WAY to expensive to take in most games (for what they do). The stegadon is good, the ancient stegadon is alot better. The EOTG option works pretty good too. Skink chief with a warspear will get you 2d6+1 impact hits (great against the ASF elves). The problem with any stegadon in our lists is that template weapons (i.e. cannon balls or stone throwers) hit the entier model (both the steg and the crew). In 8th edition, that will take out the stegadon before the third turn. I have lost an EOTG in the first turn several times. The most stable army that you could take would probably consist of several blocks of saurus supported by a few skink skirmisher units. A couple of salamanders, a slann, and a unit of temple guard for the slann to bunker in. Your slann would be your BSB. You could throw in 5 cold one cavalry and maybe a mounted scarvet. The cold one cavalry will act as a scar-vet delivery system.
I think that for a person to really understand the army they are up against, a good discussion is necessary in order to expose as many facets and possible encouter situations/tactics available. So, I refer you to this thread. Some VERY good advice, thoughts, army list, and overall tactica for us against the High Elves in 8th edition. http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/lizardmen-vs-high-elves.7373/ - Lord Cedric
